Titan LAG complaint thread

I'll tell you guys my (truthful) experience with (LAG). I ran of a 10mb DSL connection when I started ARR. Everything was fine and I couldn't understand what all this lag was people were talking about. Thought it was just an excuse myself. UNTIL I had to downgrade to a 1.5mb cable connection from a different company. Now I have 2 daughters and a wife that also get there nightly entertainment from the internet. Netflix Viooz streaming etc. With 2-3 people streaming movies, videos etc.. whenever I'm in a dungeon or grouped up with people, what happens is randomly all action on the screen will FREEZE, except me (I can still move), then 5-8 seconds later action resumes and I have lost aggro and party members are either dead or almost dead. This started as soon as I had to downgrade. So the post about streaming and faster internet is TRUE from my experience. Lag does exist, there are some people that are not making this up. It's very frustrating.

ARR does not need a lot of bandwidth to run, but if you are saturating your pipe, no matter your limit (bittorrent, multiple people streaming netflix, etc) then any real time internet connectivity is going to degrade.

This is not the same as telling people they need faster internet to play ARR. If you want to stream 3 netflix movies, and play ARR at the same time, sure make sure you have the correct bandwidth for your needs.

Yea I understand. But what I was doin was giving an account of my "personal" experience. That's why I was adamant to list all factors in. The point was to put that out there and kinda give anyone in a similar situation an answer.

But the advice you are giving is just bad in general, and will cause most people to waste their time trying to shutdown their browser....

As much as the Titan "pros" like to talk about being "skilled" in Titan, this fight is mostly about *memorization* than "skill". I can win pretty regularly now, but the only thing that's really changed from when I was first learning it is that now I know what moves are coming next, particular Weight of the Land which is what kills people a lot during post-heart. The amount of lag I experience is still the same now as when I was new to the fight , it's just that now knowing when the move is coming next I can position myself in a good place to dodge it and also be ready to anticipate it with the sprint button if necessary.

If you removed the pre-set patterns for Titan and just randomized the order of all the moves so that stacked Weight of the Land plumes could pop up anywhere at anytime around you forcing people to actually twitch-react to it, we would be hearing many more complaints about lag still.

Also running titan during off hours is much better. Much less likely for people to freeze up, lag or have titan vanish on them.

My FC has run many people through titan (free) and we look like we are on drugs before weight is coming. Everyone starts moving early and even then sometimes you get smacked with it. Its not important early on but after 5 pop up each time they are likely to stack and that means 1 shot.

I'd do it but I can't find the delete button. I know it isn't my ISP (30 Mbps Charter line) and i know it isn't my PC (8GB RAM, Windows 7, 7950 GPU, SSD, 3.5Ghz quad core,, 50FPS, runs every other game fine), and I know it's not latency as I've made it to Titan hard mode, I know how to get out of the way of attacks on time and I know how the fight patters go. This was very much just lag. Server lag on the SE end. Only Titan seems to give me so much trouble with lag. Those of you who think it is due to my lack of ability and I just need better training, I know the difference between not getting out of the way in time and not being able to move at all because the server gives hiccups.

The problem is also quite evident on the first boss of WP. Till this day, I have not seen any player reliably avoid the ranged AoE of that boss. People don't complain about it so much since it doesn't kill you instantly.

If they made the damage as unforgiving as in the Titan battle, then I know people would be creating threads about that fight as well.

I'm looking forward to their proposed fix in 2.1. Until then, developers have acknowledged that the game is broken.

People saying "blaming lag because you can't dodge are just bad"... just don't get it

Sometime, the lag is so extreme that there is NOTHING to avoid
Like everything freeze for 10 seconds, Titan does not move, team does not move, I can launch spell but I cannot see the result
Then those 10 sec fast-forward and everything happen in 1 second

You cannot predict and avoid 10 seconds of attacks hoping to be at the right place!

And for me, it's really only in Titan and sometimes WP
Had no issue in Coil turn 1...
