Chain Combo skills on same key press

one feature it would mostly improve gameplay for both pc and mostly for playstation players would be the possibility to execute a full chain of skills on the same button press...

    example currently in game

press button 1 for true thrust
press button 2 for vorpal thrust
press button 3 for full thrust

    what im suggesting

    press 1 for True Thrust
on sucessfull hit icon changes to Vorpal Thrust
    press 1 for Vorpal Thrust
on sucessfull hit icon changes to Full Thrust
    press 1 for Full Thrust
Now icon goes back to True Thrust and ready to start the combo again

the advantage in this is that it would be saving key space on keyboards and controllers both for pc and playstation players...

thats unfortunate to say the least, it would be a good feature that would do nothing to hurt the gameplay... im not bothered one bit since ive already played mmo's which i had to use more than 20 abilities in one fight... i have all my keys defined for that but why go through the bother off having 34342342 keys if you can have a lot less while not impacting the game one bit... SE doing another bad call

Actually OmegaBlack is incorrect. The UI lead has expressed interest in wanting to add macro options like this in place to increase ease of play, especially for gamepad users. It obviously will take some time to implement though.

It would be great for MNK and LNC since you can't even use some of the skills without hitting previous ones.

Best you can do with controller right now is have multiple sets with the first page as the index page and use /chotbar change macros. I'll try describing it with lancer skills. Button 1 is square, button 2 is triangle, button 3 is circle.

    Page 1
Button 1: True thrust macro (contains the true thrust attack and a command to switch to page 2)
Button 2: Impulse drive macro (contains the impulse drive attack and a command to switch to page 3)
Button 3: Heavy Thrust macro (contains the heavy thrust attack and a command to switch to page 4)

    Page 2
Button 1: True thrust (you were on page 1 and pressed true thrust and landed here, if you pressed the macro on page 1 too early, keep pushing until true thrust comes out)
    Button 2: Vorpal thrust
Button 3: Full Thrust (contains the full thrust attack and /wait and /chotbar change 1 to send you back to the index page 1)

    Page 3
    Button 1: Disembowel
Button 2: Impulse drive (you were on page 1 and pressed impulse drive and landed here, if you pressed the macro on page 1 too early, keep pushing until impulse drive comes out)
Button 3: Chaos Thrust (contains the chaos thrust attack and /wait and /chotbar change 1 to send you back to index page 1)

    Page 4
    Button 1: Whatever you want
Button 2: Ring of thorns (contains RoT attack and /wait and chotbar change 1 to send you back to index page 1)
Button 3: Heavy thrust (you were on page 1 and pressed heavy thrust and landed here, if you pressed the macro on page 1 too early, keep pushing until chaos thrust comes out)

The /wait command on all finisher combo attacks is to delay the set change command until you have finished the finisher attack. Once you perform the attack, stop pushing the macro and it'll switch back to combo select on page 1 (if you dont stop mashing the macro, it'll never change back to page 1).

It looks complicated and a pain in the behind to setup but once you're done, it'll be as if you're only using one set. Your heavy thrust combo will be 1>2>3, your impulse drive combo will be 2>1>3, your heavy thrust combo is 3>2>(and 1?). All those while you're holding the R2 trigger (or not at all if you're using toggle) and never switching sets. You do have to make duplicates of skills you will always want have access to, on all sets, like your blood for blood, invigorate, etc but you can set those up on 1 bar first and then use /chotbar copy command to copy it all on all 4 pages. There might be some drg quirks that I dont know about in terms of rotation but you can always adjust them on your own. This is just my suggestion.

I have this setup with SCH.

The way this works is you setup your base bar, minus the ability you want to change.

    And then type..

    /chotbar copy SCH 1 SCH 2
    /chotbar copy SCH 1 SCH 3

Your first 3 pages are now identical.

Your first page would put this in the "rotational" spot.

    /macroicon "Bio II"
    /ac "Bio II" <t>
    /wait 1.5
    /chotbar change 2

    Second page, same spot

    /macroicon "Miasma"
    /ac "Miasma" <t>
    /wait 1.5
    /chotbar change 3

    Third bar

    /macroicon "Bio"
    /ac "Bio" <t>
    /wait 1.5
    /chotbar change 1
    (0)
Shield Lob (Can change red text to Tomahawk and it will work perfectly Warriors)
    /macroicon "Shield Lob"
    /ac "Shield Lob" <t>
    /marking attack1 <t>

Better "macro switching", give it a read: http://tinyurl.com/ffxivhotbars

Like Estellios said, the UI lead has already said that they're looking into this but if I recall correctly they were looking into alternating between two skills in the same skill-slot and not like OP is requesting, three or more.
