I mentioned this would be a problem back in beta for that very reason. As content gets more difficult you're gonna see a divide occur between people who can use voice chat and people who can't, mmos have been around long enough for chat programs to have become an established norm. It was easy to see this was going to be an issue with a cross-platform mmo before it even went live.

I got attacked on the beta forums for pointing it out. Mostly I suspect becuase ps3 users get angry and anxious when you point to any of their disadvantages because they get secretly or at least subconsciously nervous that se is gonna just up one day think oh yeah this was a bad idea, this forum poster is right! And then stop ps3 support.

    jyst not right

"im sure you have a pc somewhere"
If we had a pc why play it on the console to begin with?

I have a console i like my big tv. As for ps4 they have a psn voice chat for 8 people exclusive to ps4s sony why add other voice apps? Theyd lose money bc ffxiv doesnt require + so these other apps wouldnt either.

If this is the only game i play they make no $

For people that are not on the recieving end try to put yourself in others shoes. Also high internet speeds are not available everywhere imagine being kicked for no voice. Imagine you unable to do coils because you are a console player.

Now you need to see how hurtful it is. We all want to get geared for endgame. Not all ps3 players are bad nor pc.. this requirement players set needs to go because its discriminating a gm has told me file it under harassment. So now that thats occuring i shouldnt have to report a player for doing this most of us are all adults. Why cant pc players just accept we want helped so we can help.

typing this on your android, which has access to several different voice chat apps... and you're complaining about what?

    Some people... I swear...

To all the PS3 players who don't want to use voice comms, its quite simple. You find or make a group that doesn't use voice comms. The last 10 years of PC MMO gaming have thrived through the use of voice comms and PC MMO players (in general) are most comfortable with that now. If you wish to experience the game in a different way, then do so with like-minded people. Expecting PC MMO players who wish to use voice comms to change what they are comfortable with so you can play with a style you are comfortable with is just as bad as the other way around. So the best option for everyone is to play how they want and find other like-minded players.

But to sit there and say, im on a ps4/3 and I don't have voice, so you can deal with it. Well you're right, the group is dealing with it, by finding someone else with voice.

Do people that refuse to use VC just expect to be carried, or just never been to twintania?

If you need the extra help of coms who is carrying who?

Once you know a fight you do not need coms, therefore not using coms will make it take a little longer to learn a fight, sometimes. IF at all.
Unless of course you are stating that FFXIV content is suddenly the hardest mmo ever made?

It's just unrealistic to expect the hardest content in MMORPG's to be done efficiently, if at all, without VC. Coordinating 8 people, let alone 24, in a timely manner, just cannot be done by text. By the time you write something, then read a reply or several, then reply again, answer someone's question on something… not even taking into factor the fact that you're a sitting duck when typing, thus that much prone to eat an AoE, lose on DPS, miss a crucial heal… the boss mechanic which prompted the need for communication, or improvisation, has well passed and you wiped.

You're burying your head in the sand here. Seriously, you must not have much raiding experience on difficult content in MMO's to say something like that.

Only people who are burying their heads ore people who insist that coms is needed. I mean how did content ever get cleared in any MMO before coms became popular?

What about those PS2 only Linkshells in FFXI that didn't use coms?
People keep saying about typing mid fight... I mean REALLY?

You see what happens in the real world is this. People talk about the fight beforehand. They then try the content. If they fail they talk about it some more. Then try again. Repeat until content is complete.
The simple fact that people even use typing during an actual fight as an argument shows how little they actually know about NOT using coms.
There are macros that can be used for instance to share info, if needed.

Haha. your vision of "real world" raiding is so out of touch. It's a joke.

Yes we brief, yes we debrief, but if we didn't communicate during the fights, we wouldn't kill many bosses, or it would take infinitely longer and would be so frustrating, not to be able to communicate with others—when games are supposed to be fun, and team play an achievement and a pleasure, not a chore. Never had a fight going south, requiring players to improvise a solution, quick? Oh, you wipe then… and "repeat" as you say… but why would you choose to make it harder for you and repeat 100 times when it could be done in 10?

I've never ever seen people playing like you're describing in 10+ years of MMORPG. I've seen VC used ever since we had broadband.
EDIT: as for FFXI it's so slow-paced that it can't be compared to most current, modern MMO's—even ARR.

Believe what you will. Play with a handicap if you like it. Actual raiders know the 'reality' or raiding.
