Hydaelyn is not Gran Pulse or any other FF world/universe (after all, some people have also said it's Ivalice, FFVII's Planet, FFIII's world and others simply based on similar references), its it's own separate world and universe.
Yeah, let's be careful of "references" meaning "OMG it's the same thing as...!". Not that I'm accusing you of that Enkidoh, I remember the discussion we had back before ARR was launched and I know you were one of the level headed people who knew that the whole FF universe isn't all related to each other and can be traveled to with the right means (my God that discussion was ridiculous).

To note, in one of Lightning's FATEs she does fights a Clockwork Dreadnought. Not a Pulsework one. Given that is probably because all of those mobs have been renamed to thinks eorzeans would recognize such as "Armored Beast" for the Alpha Behemoth.

This is like an easter egg-ish cross-reference, yes. Hell, the Clockwork Soldiers behave the same way that the Pulsework Soldiers, they even stagger, bcaue if you break their physical stoneskin they actually open the core and stop attacking same way the Pulsework Soldiers in XIII open the core and stop attacking when you stagger them

When I first saw these in Turn 4 I thought they looked like Phantom Train with arms and legs stuck on. =P

The Spiders in Turn 4 are also Mimics, along with the crocodiles/alligator things in Coerthas are from XII. Caduceus is from VIII. I expect to see a lot more reused models.

they pretty much recycled some of the turn 4 mobs from ffxiii models. clockwork dreadnoughts are the same as the dreadnoughts from XIII, and clockwork knights are identical to pulsework centurions from XIII

There's a ton of reused FFXII models, so a few reused ones from FFXIII in the coil is no surprise (although the fact that the reused FFXIII models are relegated exclusively to this dungeon is a bit odd). For reference, all these enemy types are identical to their models in FFXII:

    Mantis
    Death Gaze
Serpent (this is the enemy Caduceus is based off of, not the Anacondaur from FFVIII, although they are both similar enough for the XII one to be considered an evolution of the VIII one).
    Croc
    Aevis
Gorynych (Chudo-Yudo's enemy type, apparently. It's the Ring Wyrm from FFXII)
    Mirrorknight
    Facer
    Statue
    Clockwork Bugs (FFXII Mimics)
    Rook (FFXII Spinner-rooks)

So yeah, lots of FFXII love in this game. And that's not a bad thing at all.

Well, there were a lot of reused enemy models from FFXI too (goblins, qiqirn, mamool'jaa, pugils, saplings, gobbuues, mandragora, small crabs - the later lampshaded in the description of the 'smallshell' minion for it referring to them being a traditional source of exp at the Valkurm Dunes! ). Not to mention the playable character races are clearly based on FFXI's 'enlightened races' too, although there are some slight differences between them (roegadyn don't have tails for instance, unlike their FFXI galka brothers).

As I said before, FFXIV is clearly an amalgamation of references from all FF games, not just one.

Its for the exact same reason there are other creatures from other Final Fantasy titles in game. Its supposed to be reminiscent of previous titles.
