There have been a lot of threads about the current system sucking (or at least not living up to the "all jobs on one toon" pitch) and what can be done about it. There are valid concerns about allowing multiple runs on different classes leading to FCs doing alt runs and rolling for mains, getting full gear too fast. The idea of a lockout on rolling for gear leads to some complaining about the possibility of selling runs, combined with others saying, "no loot, what's the point?"
Leveling another job is not easier then leveling an alt with the traditional format, with the minor exception the cross class skills might already be available. But the lockouts make the "all jobs on one toon" model BS. I still need alts to run more than once.
Here is my idea:
A per-class lockout on coil. Remove the greed button. Only allow need rolls. Ensure that there is at least one member capable of rolling need (including a check to make sure they don't already have it and can actually roll) on each drop so no drops go to waste (they should do that anyway, no DRG in group, 2 DRG drops in one turn, BS).
This way you can run it once per week for each job without alts, get gear for each, and FCs can't do multiple runs where they always roll on gear for mains so the per-job gear progression is still throttled.
The only drawback I see with this is, after a job has the gear from a particular turn, you wouldn't get a chance to greed roll for another job. But this is the case with most games, you usually can't send raid drops to alts (swtor is one exception I can think of.) I think this is a good trade-off for meaningful multiple runs. Why should you get gear for a job you didn't down the boss with anyway? I can't think of anything better.
What do you think?
My apologies if this has already been suggested. There are many threads on the subject, I am sure I have missed some.
