Or the tank could actually look at people's gear and think about if they'll actually be able to pull of a speed run. Let me guess you were one of the tanks?
I've been gearing up all my other jobs as a WHM in WP. I've seen all this before. The worse tanks are always coil geared. Apparently, having coil gear means you can't move out of a stack of AOEs to avoid instant death. It makes the run more difficult and time consuming because instead of spamming Holy I'm spamming heals. Some of the best tanks out there have been in crap gear/partial DL. Considering my experiences thus far, I am shocked to see so many geared tanks whom have obviously thrived off of exceptional healers through raids.
One thing I do as a Tank in WP is I always ask the DF party if they want the mobs pulled together. If they do with the start of WP, I pull the two Tonberries that spawn into the Room with Buzzards. From there on, I pull it one group at a time looking out for the Stalker so I can dive behind a corner and the party follows me for the most part.
I've never tanked a speed run since my gear isn't there yet. having said that, most runs are pretty smooth. One thing that irritates me, it one member running off to pull extra mobs because they want things to move faster. I'm not a prima donna, but folks expect the tank to control the pulls. If you are in DF, then accept the fact that you aren't getting a speed run. It's that simple.
The tank pulled correctly for a fast run. BUT, since it was DF they probably should have asked or let people know what was gonna happen.
I usually let groups know that I will pull to beetles... if I die in that portion, I turn it into a normal run. Its DF, not all my buddies in l90 gear going for 15 min runs.
PLD shouldn't die at beetles if they use 10 sec immunity . But Im amazed at how few BLM will use sleep on mobs before first boss , especially if the tank stops short of the line. The tank pulled correctly for a fast run. I healed about 8 df runs last night and got 8 tanks trying to pull 3 groups at a time and 6 tanks who tried the boss sealing trick, this is just how the dungeon has come to be run.. take an hour to learn it and then pass the knowledge on to new people
Most of the time you hear 'if you want to speedrun form a party' but WP is now the reverse, if you dont want to speedrun form a party..
As healer(sch), I really hate speedrun. It's useless, stressful for healer/tank and cause of so many stupid comments (by tank mainly).
Why the hell should we speedrun WP ? A "quick" run, just with people who knows the best path, it's something like 30, maybe 35min, max. There is no point to win 15min and make it harder than it should.
Most of the time, if tank begin to SR without saying that he wants to do it that way, I just don't heal him and explain why. 2 cases :
- not as idiot as he first seems to be, rez and make a quick run
- insult + leave
So, make it in 30/35min max or lost a few gils (stuff repair) and 15min of penalty, what's your choice ?
(sry for grammar mistake, english isn't my native language)

These are people trying to do speed runs which usually take 10-15 minutes. The issue I have with this is the lack of explanation and the fact that they are trying to force other players to play their style of game, when going on a random run. I made a thread somewhat regarding this you might want to read.

What you should do is tell the tank that you are undergeared or unfamiliar with seed runs.
If they rage and leave, oh well. But many will take it slower because they know theyll just die.
But yeah, I DF as a heal, I dont do it in my Vanyas, just to show Im taking it slower. If everyone else has relics and we have the right jobs, Ill switch to my good gear and we can burn through the dungeon.
