    Games are about having fun. So if you are having fun playing a support class, then it's not a failure. Not everyone looks at games as a race to see who can do the most damage, and we are not all part of this min/max crowd. That doesn't make us insane.
    You're being short-sighted. The division of players between roles gets more difficult to manage the moment you step away form the trinity, which is why any game with a fourth role has suffered notable inconveniences (and that's putting it lightly).

    Whether you enjoyed standing in the back and doing nothing tangible during combat is moot, because the moment "support" holds the other three roles hostage due to being less populated proves that breaking from the trinity fails (and don't try to deny it, because support has almost ALWAYS been less populated than tank, heals or DPS). Your personal fun doesn't matter in that context because it is bad for the game on a wide scale to make parties more difficult to put together and to have people fighting over the few players willing to play "support". That's what gave rise to princess bards and princess red mages in FFXI.

    The fact that you've seen this and yet choose to still ask for it means you either don't care about the health of the game and good party dynamics, or simply refuse to learn from the past. And if you somehow expect it to turn out differently because this game is called FFXIV, then yes, that does make you insane because you're doing something that has been done before with known results yet expect it to turn out differently.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
