Why can't Summoner Egi's look like this?

when I first started playing FFXIV, my thought when I saw the egis was that they were like the elemental summons from FFXI and that you would get something better.. then I learned that those are the primal summons. I was a little disappointed. but I got over it. Probably not going to play smn because of it though. Stupid reason? undoubtedly. It just doesn't have the thrill it did in FFXI.

Even standing outside in Jeuno casting and dismissing summons was somewhat entertaining because of the different summons.

Technically, the ability to summon the Primals isn't the ability to control them.
Beastmen Summoners are calling the Primals that we fight, but they don't control them.
Transmuting their essences into Egis would let you control what was summoned. Which is what we do.

I like the Egi's. Not enough to want to main a Summoner. but i like em well enough.

I would certainly like to be able to have different kinds of Egi for the same Primal.
As an example, maybe an option like our Battle Effects option, with several different models to display depending on which option you have selected.
So say Option {1} is the current Garuda-Egi. Option {2} would be like the XI one.

With a setup like that, you wouldn't overly tax a low spec PC by forcing it to render a number of complex pet models on top of player models. The low spec PC (or preference) would just use a different display method for the Egis.

I know the lore specifically states that we aren't summoning them, rather we're just drawing power from them or something, hence the form the Egis take. We understand this, but that doesn't really help alleviate the design issue with the Egis.

Thankfully I've never been interested in Summoner in most FF games, excluding the Tactics ones. If I were, I'd definitely be disappointed with the Egis. Look at Carbuncle, he's cute, but he doesn't look like a crystalized mess.

edit: I know Carbuncle isn't a primal, but he is basically your summon/minion, same as the pixies.
