    YARR... Pirates!!

    So I was thinking of alternative classes, and I was thinking why not have a Pirate class! Now hold on hear me out.
    Base it off MRD and have primary weapon a small 1 handed axe or hatchet type weapon and his off hand could be a small muzzle loading pistol similar to what you would see on a period pirate ship. I\\'ve heard the devs talking about a possible musketeer class and this could be a nice link to it. Also firearms can be seen in Maelstrom Command and Limsa Lominsa is of course run by pirates so there is a strong link to the MRD Guild. It has the possibility of being an I testing class could be a different kind of tank or a mix of range and melee dps! If anyone has any improvements feel free to contribute I think this would be cool but obviously pure speculation we\\'ve had sky pirates in XII now I want Sea Pirates!

    What you're asking for really is Musketeer, a class that's long been planned for inclusion in the game but was dummied out in 1.0 - it's been ignored until now because Yoshi wanted to add more mage classes into the game (ala, ACN). Also, FFXI had the Corsair Job (COR) which used guns and dice rolls (and were literally pirates) so it's highly likely that could be Musketeer's class.

    But as for giving firearms to MRD? No, sorry that wouldn't work - MRD's weapon type is exclusively great axes - the Armoury System makes it that each class only really has one weapon type, the only exceptions really being some classes have single and 2-handed versions of the same type (like CNJ having both one handed wands and two-hande staves).

    Basically you're suggesting a hybrid between Musketeer and Marauder.

    The main problem with this is that a class is a specialization in one weapon type. Example: Marauders are axes, they could potentially get one handed axes for a 2nd job. Musketeer will likely specialize in pistols but they could make it specialize in guns in general allowing a 2nd job off of the class to use rifles.

    The other problem is this game uses "pirate" in a different way. Marauders are pirates and likely Musketeers will be too. It'd be kind of odd to have a class called Pirate that is also a pirate alongside MRD and MSK. And then you also run into the issue if they give Corsair as a job to Musketeers.

    New class of privateer that can use guns and small blades (DW), and branching Specialist (Gunblade/soldier types) and muskateer (rifles)? Mmmm that sounds like the most fun thing ever.

    Edit/Expansion: WHAT IF you made military classes for each GC that required all JOBS from the city being @ level 50 to unlock? Not enough to do, suck on THAT!

    LL = Class Privateer > Specialist or Muskateer (as above)
    UD = Bladesmen > Thief (think Thancred) or Champion (think Raubahn)
    Grid = Ranger > Hunter (cross-bows, traps) or Green Mage (regenerative healer/buffer)

    Gunblades sound awesome and they already exist in-game so why not SE!

    There was Corsair in XI, they were support/DPS they seemed pretty cool. Basically they supported through abilities that involve "Gambling" by choosing an ability (wont go into detail I'm pretty tired atm) then rolling a "dice". There were lucky numbers for each ability aswel as unlucky 1s, the goal was to roll as high number as you can without going over 12 I think it was or ofc get the lucky number. These abilities ranged from stuff like increasing attack/magic power, skill speed (haste), TP/MP regen. Onto the DPS side, they used guns which could do high damage and debuff enemies, would be cool to have them here just new and improved :3

    Edit: Oh and they were actually pirates but looked badass.
