    3rd Cross Class Choice for your job?

    I have this developing theory on what the developers might be doing in future class /job releases and I get the sneaking suspicion that as they release new classes we will soon be seeing a 3rd class to choose from with every job for cross class skills.

    Anyone else getting this thought as well? Is there any evidence/statements out there already?

    They may do this or they may just allow you to choose more from your two classes when level cap is raised.

    True. However one of my gripes is the limited selection of cross-class skills. Almost makes the function pointless.

    The cross class system is in desperate need of fine tuning.

    Some classes have absolutely pointless skills in their cross class options. (warrior sunder)
    Some jobs have difficulty finding 5 useful skills to even use from their options. (pld having cast time skills making them pointless when you are getting your face beat in)
    Cross class skills do not scale properly making them utterly useless. (pld using cure when it costs more mp than the hp it heals)

    All in all the system is annoying to say the least and pretty pointless in most cases.

    As a White Mage, Internal Release is probably the ONLY cross-class ability available right now that I would be interested in having.

    If/when SE decides to increase the number of jobs that we can pull cross-class abilities from, I'm gonna guess that the only worthwhile things healers are gonna be getting is gonna come from other healing classes (whenever those get released).

    I would like to see the posibility to spend the Slots for passives. e.g. you could choose Virus for the whm and use a second Slot to get the passive to make it par with the arcanists. Another example would be to choos vita for the Paladin and spending a second slot to make it scale with strength instead of willpower. Or spending a second Slot for stoneskin to transmorph the character into a lalafel till it wores off.

    Yeah. Some of these abilities aren't worth it because of the passives that support them. Great idea.

    Hmm... If I had to pick using only the current classes:

    PLD - PGL (Secondwind and Featherfoot primarily)
    WAR - LNC (Lifesurge primarily also Feint)
    MNK - ARC (Raging primarily)
    DRG - ARC (Raging primarily)
    BRD - ACN (Resurrection, Eye for an Eye, Virus)
    BLM - LNC (Blood for Blood and Lifesurge)
    SMN - PGL (Interal Release)
    SCH - ARC (Raging primarily also Quelling)
    WHM - ARC (Quelling primarily)

    Would some of these be broken as all else? I'm sure haha. But it would be fun/nice to have these dream abilities. Of course there could be even more fun abilities down the line from other classes.

    I've been thinking about this for a while and I think that, when they add new classes, they'll definitely have to do *something*. In some cases, it just seems weird to leave the current subclasses as they are (i.e. if you had MSK available, why the hell would you give BRD LNC instead of MSK), and it would provide some level of impetus for the player base to try out the new class(es) for reasons other than novelty.

    Beyond simply adding new subclasses like you suggest (i.e. BLM, SMN, and BRD would likely get MSK added; WAR gets LNC or whatever new tank class is added; GLA gets LNC, PGL or whatever new tank class is added; PGL and LNC probably get ARC, for Raging and Quelling; and WHM and SCH would probably get access to whatever new healer they elect to add, since there isn't much of real use that they could get from any other class), another option would be to could swap out an existing "subclass" for certain classes and provide a new one that is actually useful: if they add THF, get rid of MRD for DRG and MNK and swap it out for THF, which would, presumably, have more useful abilities for DPS than what MRD provides (its really just Fracture and it's only *really* useful for MNK because Fracture's 220 potency actually stands out; I also expect that THF would probably have some kind of enmity drop, which MNK doesn't have and is sometimes sorely in need of); BRD might get LNC replaced with MSK (the only useful thing that BRD is going to get out of LNC come 2.1 is BfB and it makes some sense for the two rDPS classes to share cross class skills since every *other* class within the same role shares cross class); BLM, SMN, WHM, and SCH are probably pretty safe since their cross-class suite is pretty well comprised of numerous useful options, though I could see BLM losing ACN for MSK, possibly, to restrict access to Virus/EfE (which are flipping *amazing*).
