Quit. Quit. Quit! :3Amazing story, fantastic graphics, and really I've only had a few minor gripes with this game.
But as I see and hear more from the developers about incoming changes (and I see people plugging their ears on the forums) I become very discouraged.
See, I don't -want- to level other classes. Running Fates (or even repetitive dungeons) on a class other than the ones I enjoy isn't worthwhile content to me. I was ...[/B]
Sadly this MMO is making the same mistake as countless others. It is becoming tedious to do the same thing over and over, week after week. It speaks volumes that all of the best equipment in the game is linear and gated. There is not enough unique content to go around. Because of that, SE and Yoshida had to create time barriers to keep the carrot in front of the players. Unfortunately the sparkle of a new game world is wearing thin. It's bound to happen no matter what a developer does. However, there are things that should be happening that are not.
We have all been informed that what we see now is what we will have all the way through 2.3. There will be no new major content goals, no new area expansions, no new races, and no new classes. We will have this same grind for tomes, primals, Coil, and the laughable ragefest that Crystal Tower is going to be. FFXIV is in a rut of repetitious content for the foreseeable future.
This game was designed with assembly line workers in mind. If you enjoy doing the same thing over and over again until it looses all meaning, this game is for you. If you enjoy mind-numbing content that is just a rehash of the same existing content, this game is for you.
If you enjoy sideways progression, full-immersion content, expansive story, or crafting that matters; good luck. You won't find it here in the next 6-8 months.

Funny, crafting gonna be absolutely relevant at 2.2 , when will people be able to find informations and be patient ... /alwaysthesamestory
keep clam wait for WildStar when people start migrating then devs will do something. Losing money is only thing that will make SE do their job and release actual content. As for now FFXIV is filler mmo until something good will come out , it has absolutely NO lasting appeal.
I can see this game dieing in about 2 months tops. THe so called new content they are release isnt anything special.
Players want to look different to everyone else. I mean if you spend months on a character i want to feel unique not look the same.
SE needs to take away the importance of animations being the priroty. This is why there combat is so slow.
I have fun in this game but compared to other MMOs there just isnt enough to do and well its boring.
No point paying for a game when i only log in for like an hour a week for AK runs and coil is just a nightmare to get into
Wierd... Almost everyone in my FC got thier "excitment" stolen from us right after live letter-day. Noting for us to get excited of TBH. To me they dont spend thier hours wisely on the new content. Just take this AK-nerf... Come on... Its a good chunk of hours that could be better spent on NEW content. Well to me thats one of the many signs that they focus on wrong things. Not my first mmo ive seen it in either and we all know where they end up... Sad, since this game have/had so much potential...
Agree, to me this is SWToR again but I feel FF14 is the lesser of the two. ToR had more to do like PvP, more dungeons, and arguably much funner combat mechanics; Huttball and the grind for top teir gear in PvP + PvE alone kept me going for 5 months until I unsubbed. Also ToR had the best leveling experience I have ever had in an MMO...story for Agent was simply amazing. On the flip side, I am bored of FF14 after only 2 months...not a good sign.
Sadly, at this time FF14 just does not offer me much. I came to the realization all I do is log on to cap mythos by doing 8x AK runs....after doing 260+ runs of that, let's just say I got to the point I simply absolutely loathe the mere thought of doing it again. That, to me, is not worth the 20 buck a month price tag.
I suppose I could find a coil group but once that run is over...what's left? Level crafting that does not really matter by pressing macros? Level an alt that I won't play? Stand around town and do laps? Meh. Unsubbed a few weeks ago and will occasionally check the forums to see if anything's changed.
If this game launched with 2.1, I believe I would not be so...bored. Glad others feel this is the best MMO ever but I personally think it's not that good 'content' wise; never been a fan of Korean style grinders anyways. Even many of those have more things to do than here which is sad.
Well, flame me all you want...it's your right.
Bye bye and have fun all.

When wildstar comes out it will be wait for (insert new game here.) Same story with each mmo.keep clam wait for WildStar when people start migrating then devs will do something. Losing money is only thing that will make SE do their job and release actual content. As for now FFXIV is filler mmo until something good will come out , it has absolutely NO lasting appeal.
This "direction" you see SE going in shouldn't be any sort of a surprise. Ever since we heard CT was going to be released (way back in beta, remember that?) we knew it was going to come before Binding Coil. It got pushed back unfortunately. 2.1 is going to complete the original system they wanted/talked about in release. 4 man dungeons -> HM primals -> CT -> BC. This isn't some strange new direction that devs are going in to make the flow of content wierd. This is setting it right. If people are highly discontent right now, then they should stop playing for a couple patches and come back when things are released in the proper order.
Also yes, I hate the current grind for Mythology tomes, and BC is rather disappointing now that my group downs 1-4 in 1 night and then starts progressing (slowly) through Turn 5. I see the lack of content, and its very disappointing. However if 2.1 brings all it was supposed to promise, anyone starting the game after Dec.17th is in for a different experience then we, who started playing at release, got.
That being said, its still a new game, which is going to take time for content and quality of life features to be implemented.
