**SPOILERS**
I quite enjoyed the stories of the Scions and the contentions with Cid and Lahabrea. The endless fetch quests got a little tiresome, but it was nice to have a MMO whose story I actually cared about.
The story was why I couldn't put it down all the way to 50.
It doesn't matter what they intended. The fact is they're releasing tier 1 content after people are already tier 2 geared. An easy fix would be to up the ilevel and stats, but SE doesn't seem interested in doing that. That's going to cause problems with finding groups and maintaining intended difficulty to say nothing of gear. People will get bored, SE WILL lose subscribers and for a game this new they can't take that chance. It may very well be a death sentence for the MMO, especially since the biggest contender in the genre is upping their game to match SE's example. That's the problem here. Please, please please please PLEASE tell me you aren't under the impression that Crystal Tower is 'new' content...
Of course it's skippable, but it was also meant to be there from launch, they just withheld it because they didn't have it ready in time. It's not new content, this isn't the 'next' thing, it's putting in place what was supposed to be there on day one. 2.2 will contain the next step for Binding Coil. This is in no way indicative that content patches will take steps backwards. 2.1 contains something that belongs -before- the final step because of a delay, not because they intentionally 'took a step back'.
There seem to be people who are looking at CT's iLvl 80 status and freaking out, throwing out wild assumptions such as that every other patch will be an in-between step rather than a step forward, over a 1-time circumstance with a dungeon.
Whether they intended it to be new or not, CT IS new content, and it will be largely skipped because of their choices with gear progression.

So you're saying that they should have started CT off with iLvl 90+ gear for drops? You make it sound like the dungeon isn't intended to be added onto over time with more and more difficult segments with higher rewards...

I shall be the first . . . and ONLY . . . individual here to admit that I just play because I like it. I do not play for gear, or ranks or ways to show off to another player. I just play because I like to do something in my free time when the weather sucks outside.
With that said, there there ARE days where I do NOT like it. Fortunately there are so many awesome MMO games out there that my mood can take me wherever I want.
I never see the point in sitting there thinking, "Okay so i am not having fun any more, therefore I shall assess that this game is on a downturn or going out of business, etc, etc, infinity." I see that on EVERY MMO forum, and yet each of those MMO games are still enjoyed by so many people that the communities are still strong in every one of them.
Also, bear in mind that this game has been out for not even a year . . . in fact not even half a year. It is new and fresh and still well within development. People get their character leveled and because they did so faster than the devs could make new content, they automatically assume that there is no future content coming and that the game is pretty much dead. Isn't it much easier to take a step back and log onto one of the other MMO games that you play (especially since I do not know of anyone who plays only one game).
For me personally it's: FFXIV ticked me off today because I had a bad day of healing . . . time to explore the final frontier in STO . . . oh wait! STO gave me that awesome driver crash with season 8 . . . time for Neverwinter . . . BAH! The Ranger isn't released yet . . . OH!!!!! AWESOME!!!! I apparently have a family. I guess i shall have dinner with them
Just a disclaimer that this is just my post to show how I feel about the game, and I am not claiming anyone to be absolutely right or wrong. It is simply my opinion that this game is doing fine and that we will most likely see future content beyond what is discussed here.

I love topics like these. they are usually by people who haven't touched SWTOR in at least a year. (and there is plenty of content in SWTOR, so if ARR is going 'the same route' ARR will be freaking amazing)
You mean losing countless subscribers and eventually going F2P?
The game won't die, there's enough diehard FF fans to keep it around, but it won't be competitive either, and neither is SWTOR.
I'm saying because they didn't, CT will be largely skipped until they DO, and FFXIV will feel the hit in players bored with endgame progression.

I'm sorry for not buying the stink about how f2p means the death of the game.
Warhammer Online is shutting down, in case you missed it. hur hur.
'competative' with what exactly? WoW? not gonna happen. ever. no MMO will be competative with WoW until WoW dropps down to a mio subscribers too.
But that goes right back to the amount of content in the game... which you said yourself you weren't complaining about, but rather the direction the game is going in. CT has nothing to do with the direction the game is going in, it's been a part of the game since launch. Bumping the iLvl and stats would make CT 'more content', which may solve the 'boredom' issue, but again seems to contradict the "I'm not complaining about lack fo content" part...
