so you're talking about 1.23, not 1.0. The original 1.0 have nothing of this. In fact, it had nothing AT ALL.Positive bro. I had a reason to log on every single day in 1.0 --- Relic weapons were hard to get. Garuda needed a good group of geared people to complete and the weapons were 2nd best in the game. Dark Light gear (OR THE BEST GEAR) wasn't a joke to get in the game. Mobs could be farmed for various items because crafting wasnt a joke to get to 50 - - - Each mob in the game had a purpose for a specific craft level. Gathering wasnt a complete joke where you could farm 200 of an item within an hour only to flood the markets and drop the price. You needed so many materials in order to get your way to level 50 and even then the materials were still used in spiritbonding ..... ANOTHER complete joke in this linear stat game...

The biggest gripe I have is that SE took the system 1.0 had as far as cross-class abilities and butchered it to where you could really just consider the 3-5 abilities you're going to use as mandatory. There really isn't much choice involved.
In 1.0, Bard had a different set of skills to use for each encounter and within that, their role within that encounter.
Monk could equip threat skills and tank content if required (most notably, the Black Mage Faction Quest, but also things like Ifrit or Skirmish).
Sure, in 1.0 a lot of the abilities were pretty standard but there were options.
More notably, this is just a butchered skill tree where you have zero choice. You have zero choice in gear progression. You have zero choice for melds. The game needed a non-laggy UI, better server latency/response, a more active (dodging) combat system, and more things to do once you were max level.
Instead, the game was turned into an 8-pack of crayola crayons where it still has poor latency/response times, the dodging is easier because every fight is scripted and there are less things to do at max level.
Probably my favorite part of 1.0 was the fact that I could get my class leveled in about 6 hours and then I could go back to doing something I considered fun. I didn't have to level the class in 6 hours, there were certainly options you could take for a slower ride to 50 and my first class I did exactly this. After that I chose the 6 hour route because it was mostly in support of my main, mostly because I wanted to see the other classes at 50 - not how they were at 20.
The game wasn't better because I had to grind endlessly, the game was better because I had something to do.
I play this game for 2 hours a week and the only time I played it for longer was when Turn 5 came back up.

Alright, that's fine then - I agree that rare loot drops are a fantastic way to encourage people to continue doing content they've already done, or have harder content where you can only get the best of the best gear there. The latter is the case for Coil, but outside of ADS furniture pieces (and potentially the primal pieces too) there isn't anything really rare that you can get at lvl 50 from repeated content. I think Relics ARE a lot easier to get than they should be, but I think the relics are going to scale with difficulty - as in, you may have gotten your Relic to +1 by grinding tomes, but perhaps you need to complete Extreme Primals to get it to +2, and then even harder content for +3, and so on and so on.
I think the main reason this problem exists is we are in 2.0, which was the point of my original post. 1.0 started very lackluster and later evolved into a decent MMO, then got shut down and rebuilt. Everyone coming in at 2.0 need to catch up to everyone who started in 1.0 and they want to get this done as fast as possible - that's why DL is so easy to get, that's why Relic is so easy to get, that's why there's only one end game raid. Unfortunately for Legacy players, the game isn't quite for you just yet. 2.2 and beyond I'm sure we'll see more expansion on true end game, but for now every new player needs to get caught up (which is why 2.1 is introducing more paths to get to Coil quickly).
Speaking of gathering, though, I think that "Treasure Hunting" will be a more complicated method for getting rare crafting items so we'll see a return of that. I'm all for having more things to do for everyone, I just think they want to get everyone to the point where everyone can be grouped together, that way all content can be intended for EVERYONE rather than just the casuals or just the hardcore.
This is also what I meant but I wasn't around for the launch of 1.0 so I only know that actual "content" existed later on. Which is fine, and that's how I see 2.0 going.

Not going to criticise your post, I'm not at end game and I've never been a harcore raider so not my place to, but I do have to question just how much you 'love' this game given than you unsubbed and resubbed at the flip of a coin before the first proper game update was even out of the gate?
You put forward a good argument in your OP, but completely lost me when it got to UNSUBBING/OKAY RESUBBING at the end.
They've literally just finished rebuilding this game from the ground up in an effort to rectify past mistakes - possibly the most genuine apology any game developer has issued in history, give them a chance to get into the swing of things before you start condemning them.
This particular issue IS a game-breaking one, at least for me. I stated that elsewhere. Dunno what's hard to get about it.Not going to criticise your post, I'm not at end game and I've never been a harcore raider so not my place to, but I do have to question just how much you 'love' this game given than you unsubbed and resubbed at the flip of a coin before the first proper game update was even out of the gate?

The issue was in place for years - in 1.0, in beta, without so much as a word from the devs. Since I primarily focus on endgame and raiding, it was game-breaking. Still is, really, I just plan on seeing how it pans out since they've FINALLY acknowledged it.

1. The best thing about SWTOR's alt's is everyone had their own storyline. Sadly, the class and job stories in ARR are far too short. That said, I would rather ARR include multiple recruitable Companions who have their own storylines.
2. I do agree with the OP that he basically feels "punished" for focusing on a main class. Fair enough that it is purposely quite easy to gear all classes it would be frustrating otherwise, but ARR could do with some legendary quests for each class which more or less force players to pick a main. Basically, Hunting Logs to the extreme where only the crazy would bother to do it for all classes, not just killing mobs but comprising all aspects of the game and each log would be different for each class. Marvel Heroes has a good example of this (in fact they even call it legendary quests)
No offense, but your whole reply makes no sense. You're saying that because the Company's first attempt to make money off your love for the Final Fantasy games failed miserably and they (hastily) attempted a second one, half-cooking some "remake" in the process, an aforementioned Final Fantasy series fan must keep paying them money in hopes they'll improve the game at some point? "Hey man, I'm sure it'll get better someday, keep paying!"You put forward a good argument in your OP, but completely lost me when it got to UNSUBBING/OKAY RESUBBING at the end.

This is an odd argument. You say that as if such an "apology" was a burden, when in fact it made them a ton of money. They've literally just finished rebuilding this game from the ground up in an effort to rectify past mistakes - possibly the most genuine apology any game developer has issued in history, give them a chance to get into the swing of things before you start condemning them.
Post release. Yes. But how much did it cost them to shut down, and give free play time, and pay developers to redesign the current game. All on the hopes of people wanting to play. This is an odd argument. You say that as if such an "apology" was a burden, when in fact it made them a ton of money.
I think that was the point. Im just guessing though.

I didn't know so many people had Turn 5 on farm. I've never even seen an Allagan weapon.
