Hey everyone, just thought that I would give SE the heads up here that Crystal Tower, come December 17th, 2013 is going to play out as such.

Group A of a small FC consiting of 8 slightly undergeared very good friends decided to queue up. Moments later the queue window pops up and Hoorrayy! They get to see the insides of the much talked about Crystal Tower.

Meanwhile, Group B, C, and D of a larger FC all have queued up at that same moment. Their queue pops up and behold, all 3 groups of the FC get the queue at the same moment. Hoorraayyy!! a 24 man FC run with FC FRIENDS...

Jump ahead passed some cut scenes....

Group A goes, ohh, these guys are really geared up and and chatting with each other as perhaps they know each other... Group B and C are sitting there going "WTF, Where is Generic Joe from group D? Whats going on?"
At this point, Groups B and C realize that Group D didn't get in the same alliance and well, that's not fun.... So, what do they do? They leave the DF...leaving the little group of 8 very good friends to fend for themselves all alone inside the walls of the Crystal Tower ultimately having to leave themselves and start the process allllll over again.


This is the scenario that is going to be played out over and over and over until many players just up and quit the game entirely since they have to wait over and over dealing with the larger FCs ditching out cause they didn't group together.

And this is without the random tank/healer rage quits, name calling, "too slow I quit", "This is my first time, How I fight?" and "u need better gear D:"

Luckily its ilvl55 which is AF. But yes I definitely see this issue with larger FCs dropping unless they have it so you can queue up as parties together or prioritize matching with your own FC.

Just hop on your next bandwagon MMO if you can't wait until 2.2.

This may happen, but the odds of all 3 groups from the same FC getting into the same instance is going to be so rare, I can't see it being an issue worth worrying about. Most FC with a brain know that they will most likely not get put in the same run. And I would say the odds of 4 from the same FC are 0% from happening. Maybe 2 if you are super lucky, but 3 is not gonna happen, so if they are gonna keep leaving till it does, then good luck to them lol.
Yes 24 people will be in there "together" but it is really an 8 man you do with other 8 mans, not a 24 man you do together.

I have faith that SE is making the decisions that make the most business sense. Admittedly, their logic is a bit difficult to follow on this one...It's as if they believe that adding content that only a minority of the player base has sufficient organization to enjoy(and only then by scheduling their lives around the game) will somehow hurt their bottom line. Crazy, right?

I think your anger is misplaced. There's nothing wrong with CT...it looks like it will be a wonderful way to socialize with new people. The problem is that FF14, and MMOs in general(well, except Eve) are lacking in content specifically targeted at large, established player organizations. That's what you should be lobbying for. Threatening to scuttle CT by repeated leaving isn't going to help.

Oh, and the reason such content works in Eve is because there's a ton of stuff for solo-pilots and small corps to do as well. If Square is willing to similarly add a large variety of content to suit every taste in the future, then you'll probably get the 40 person no-CF raid you're hoping for. But for now, more ad hoc content is more applicable to a greater portion of the user base, and so will be the priority.
