Imagine the worst possible scenario... ok, there is your answer. :P
I jest
I'm interested to know as well... but it seems like getting land in general will be hard because of all the fc's in one server. Especially in congested servers.
Everyone will be fighting for that one spot if bidding lasts for a long time
Nobody knows yet, as far as i'm aware.
Here's how it works:
Plots of land can be bought at a set price of NPC vendors. If nobody has bought a particular plot of land for an unknown span of time, the price beings to drop.
So, you can buy quickly and pay full price, or try and wait until the price drops but risk someone else taking the plot of land.
As far as I know, that's it.
Does anyone know if personal housing is coming in 2.1? My friend told me it's only fc housing..
Well no, not really. Remember, all the housing areas are all instanced, so if all the houses in one get taken up, it makes a new instance. If all the "good" housing spots in an instance get purchased before you can, you go to another instance of the housing area and buy what you want.
From how I understand the system, having watched both the live letter and read up on the official translations, this is how I see it. The "auction" part of the "auction-like system" the answer is talking about is that the price comes down if nobody had purchased it after a time. The only way to keep someone from buying a piece of property is to buy it yourself.
The creation of new instances is going to be done in real-time at first instead of being automated so it is likely that if an instance approaches being full or sales slow due to the "good spots" being taken they will open more.
