If you were level 50 helping a level 25 group would any of those people get exp for anything you killed while being partied with them?No, because being synced was only a prerequisite SE decided on. If you weren't synced, you'd still be able to play with your level 20 friend in a level 20 instance at level 50.
You have to look at the reason why level syncing exists in the first place. SE didn't want players who were over-leveled participating in instances because they'd have too much of an advantage.
.. but the same applies to ilvl. Someone who is over-geared in level 50 instances will have a huge advantage. So why not force them to sync as well?
It doesn't make sense that it applies only to level when ilvl is just as important. Both should be synced or neither should be synced. To keep it as it currently is solves only half the problem SE thinks exists.
