    Hello

So i just started playing a few days. I came from SWTOR. My character is a gladiator. I just have a few questions.

    1. How often should i be getting new equipment? I'm lvl 6 right now and about to hit 7.

    2. What level can i get into a guild(freecompany)?

    3. Any tips on getting started and things i need to not miss?

You can join a free company at any time. If you do all the side quests along side the story quests you will have quests rewards that will replace your old gear as you level. Or you can choose the cash reward and purchase crafted items from the market board.

If you wish to skip the side quests (not recommended) go to the market board every few levels to see what gear is available. As you level you will see more differentiation for tank stats. Some gear can be equipped across several classes so make sure you are purchasing gear with stats most helpful to your class. Typically items with parry would be what you are looking for.

By 6 or 7, you should be able to update your armour and weapon to the next better after your starting equipment. Then there are new items typically about every five levels or so. It's not necessarily the same level for each piece, though, so each level up is likely to have one or two pieces that you could upgrade if you want. Jewelry gets upgrades a lot slower than armour and weapons. (At 26, I'm only on my second jewelry item for most slots, and it doesn't look like I'll get anything better until around level 35.)

    2. What level can i get into a guild(freecompany)?
You can join a Free Company at any level. There's a level 25 requirement to start a new one. Group content starts around level 15, so I recommend trying to find a good FC by then.

Most features are unlocked either by the main quest line (the ones with the fiery outline around the quest icon) or by your class quests. Each five levels there is a new class quest to get from the guildmaster at your class's guildhall (or after level 30 they switch to a different NPC for your job). Be sure to do those, as some of them unlock extra class abilities or other features. Some players get caught up with whatever else they're doing at the time and forget to go back to the class guild when they hit one of those level boundaries.

Besides that, the game does a pretty good job of explaining what you need to do when. Pay attention to the tutorial tips. (You can get back to them through the main menu if you skipped by some too quickly or forgot what they said.) And pay attention to the dialog and descriptions in quests.

It's by invitation. The Zalera forum would be a good place to check for FCs that are recruiting, or you could ask in in-game chat. Sometimes people will broadcast in-game (usually in the Yell or Shout chat channels) that their FC is looking for new members. Once you find someone that's recruiting, or is in an FC you want to join, send a /tell message and ask for an invite.

Be sure you find the sort of FC that matches your interests and needs. Some are focused just on end-game raiding, for instance, and (despite whether that's what you'll want or not once you actually reach end-game) they wouldn't be suitable for someone trying to find teammates to get through the low level storyline with. Some are more casual or hardcore than others. Some have more focus on other areas like crafting or roleplaying, etc.

You should try to keep your gear up-to-date by upgrading every 4-5 levels if possible. This is especially important as a tank as you control the pace of a dungeon, and a tank that dies in 2-3 hits is extremely unfun to have. As Niwashi said, your accessories will be upgraded a lot less often so do not worry as much if you can't find any. If you haven't done it yet, there is a main storyline quest that requires you to wear Level 5 or higher gear, and quests will give you everything except for pants which can be bought at a nearby NPC. This seems to stump people sometimes so I just figured I would throw it out there.

Another thing to remember is that a huge amount of your effectiveness is determined by your "Physical Damage" rating on your sword, so even if you aren't a DPS you should keep it updated. It will not only usually be the determining factor in how much damage you do, it translates directly into how much hate/enmity bonus you get from your tanking skills, even the ones that don't do any direct damage like Flash.

When you start getting into dungeons, the Unique (Green Background) and Aetherial (Pink Background) gear that you can equip will be worth taking a look at. Many of them last quite a long while due to their high Item levels and bonus stats. As an example, the level 32 gear you can get in one of the mid-game dungeons beats out most other gear you can get until the early 40's.

...and make sure your gear is always repaired before entering a dungeon!

I have a question about advanced class. Are you restricted to one advanced class or can i level all my classes and then choose a different advanced class?

Don't forget about Grand Company equipment, also. You gain access to that stuff around Lv20, depending on how far along you are in the main story. Each company is more geared towards a certain role (DPS, MAGE, TANK), though; but you can always change companies in the event you change your mind.

    1. The number of Lv.50 classes/jobs you have says nothing about your skill.
    2. FATEs are responsible for the majority of Lv.50 "derps".
    3. Don't blame a healer if you died in red zones; that was all on you.
    4. As a healer, healing is your top priority; DPSing comes second.
    5. As a tank, your healer can only keep you alive for so long; avoid red zones, too.
    6. As a DPS, you're partially responsible for hate management, too.
    7. Don't belittle newbs for their lack of skill or knowledge; you were one of them once.
