The cost of making games has ballooned compared to earlier giants of the industry that boasted impressive, challenging raiding. Hardcore raiders were the obvious first niche for the chopping block to cut costs while also broadening the appeal so that the games can return a profit to investors. This is industry-wide, not just here.
The sad truth is that the only reason any hardcore raiders came to this game in the first place is the absence of games that cater to that audience.

Well put...that just proved what we've been arguing about. Saying that this patch that we've been waiting half a year for is benefiting only casuals. So what your saying is that SE is making stuff to benefit casuals after working on it for months. The game isn't "regressing." It's offering content to appeal to all levels of play. NOT EVERYONE IS A HARDCORE PLAYER and not everyone has lv90 gear as much as some people on this forum think they do.
But if you have to ask "Why should I renew my subscription" then you probably shouldn't. I love the game and still think it's great and I am still very interested in the new patch content. But if you're not, feel free to take a break, and I'm not saying this to be facetous or anything, but rather because you might be burnt out and / or just not that interested inthe game in the first place, and that's fine. Not every game can appeal to everyone.
In other words, you think SE should cater to a minority, not the majority of players that pay the majority of its subscription dollars. It's not like we're never going to get more hardcore content. Even though I've been through Coil and consider myself a somewhat hardcore player, you really need to stop demonizing casuals like they're ruining the game just because they are possibly benefiting from this patch more than you.
Also, the OP is asking for PROGRESSIVE raiding progress. How does leveling your chocobo or gathering count as a progressive raid!?

Yes, and the following patch will only benifit hardcore. But ofcourse then it's all perfectly damn fine as long as you get something out of the deal, isn't it? This whole arguement isn't about the concerns for the games development direction, but rather a bunch of players screaming at eachother over who is more entitled for new content.
Let me explain the current development model again as most people can't understand sarcasm and skip it.
2.0, 2.2, 2.4 - Hardcore Coil Content (You guys are a part of this community and you really deserve this)
2.1, 2.3, 2.5 - Casual Content (We will have our own thing to do and try to stay out of your way, we ask that the hardcore community respect those wishes aswell)
All and all it's the most efficient way to ensure that everyone gets a slice of the pie.
6month? Your maths are so wrongWell put...that just proved what we've been arguing about. Saying that this patch that we've been waiting half a year for is benefiting only casuals. So what your saying is that SE is making stuff to benefit casuals after working on it for months.

Please tell me how CT sets back the game? A good majority of people currently have a mix of i70,i80,i90 armor, few and far in between are the people with pure i90. And even then it's on 1 job. So you have a major portion of people who will want the CT armor to complete main sets, and sets for off classes. Unless you have i90 for ALL jobs under the sun, and i don't care if you play em or not. you are not allowed to complain.

You should renew if you are having fun. If you are no longer having fun, then stop subscribing. Why is this such a hard concept?
another one of these
Blizzard give you at least an average of 10 Bosses per Raid-Tier (if not even more), huge raid instances and 2 difficulty settings to progress in. (not counting lfr)Also please note that blizzard has also adopted a similiar model example, 5.0, 5.2, 5.4 - Raid content whilst 5.1 and 5.3 were simply casual content patches.
What do we have here? 4 Bosses for how much longer?
Nowadays this is not acceptable.
