I would of lol'd if SE set all the new content 'after' Coil, where you had to defeat Twintania in order to be able to access it. I'm sure that woulda given all these people who want endgame content what they want, right? Granted, the lionshare of them aren't even through that yet to begin with, but hey, it woulda given them all peace of mind, right?

For the small minority of players running Coil, probably no point, for the vast majority every point.

Yes. Fun in a videogame is completely unheard of. Content is useless if people aren't getting new gear progression. (Although based off of how people were flipping out when they thought they were gonna turn Allagan gear to iLvl95 and feeling that'd make all their current gear useless..... it's hard to say new gear is what they want even though they want it.)

tl;dr, players the majority of the time never know 'what' they want.

That saying is what gets people to come back to their store. Even though they maybe wrong, you have to make the illusion that they are right, so they will keep coming back. If you tell them they are wrong, there is a big possibility that they may not come back to your store.

In a MMO's case, Yes we are customers, but the game can only go in a certain direction. Not EVERYONE's direction. It's hard to use that saying in a MMO. Game companies can only "Do their best" to please you.

The biggest issue with this is not being able to do it with a complete FC Alliance. Has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of.

Link or you just misunderstood things.
What i know is that the extreme primals get a story, not that they are in the main storyline. Main Storyline Primals are the easy primals.

I run coil twice a week (clearing turn 5 in one group on my SCH main) and clearing turns 1-4 on my newly leveled PLD alt who isn't geared enough yet to tank turn 5.

The idea of getting to replace Darklight with a new set of gear for my alt jobs/char (because let's face it, even if I have been doing coil since very early on that doesn't mean I've gotten to pick up more than even one extra drop for my alt classes) is great. Aside from that, a higher myth cap so gearing my alts and such will be even faster? And extreme mode primals which seem challenging... And well, PvP too? (I am mainly a PvE mmo player but I love PvP if it's done right).

I guess I am in the minority of those hardcore raiders who don't understand how people aren't excited for the patch. By the time 2.2 hits I know I'll be able to do turns 6-10 (speculation) on multiple classes and not just SCH/WHM which are my mains and currently best geared due to drop/myth restrictions.

And hard mode primals were part of the main story too. It's how you unlocked coil after all. Granted it was pretty awfully narrated and implemented, but that's beside the point.
