Umm...say what? I can't say I've ever played TOR enough to say, but Guild Wars is far from a wreck. In fact, most of the stuff that SE has screwed up with FFXIV, GW2 gets right. The game definitely has issues, but if you're looking for a game where you don't want to solo, then it's a darn good choice.

This is one of the bigger annoyances with this game for me honestly. The only MMO that I know of that prevents you from being in a party for much of the content. Unfortunately, this will never change at this point.

I think what you mean is new MMOs are like this - It was never a problem in older MMOs. People love bringing up FFXI when this subject comes up, but in all reality, the one common factor is:

"I lfp for hours, days on end!"

    But never:

"I tried to start my own party and could never do it."

But that's a different story - It's common for people to want MMOs to be solo ventures today rather than MMO, I doubt you've ever wanted to actually do things with your friends that wasn't purely end-game, you know kinda like what we could in XI and 1.23? ^^
This isn't it at all. Even if 100% of all content in a game is party, not everyone wants to party for the same thing at the same time and thus there is waiting involved, whether you lead or you form. Why should there be nothing in the game to pass the time? No one's asking for the whole game to be a 'solo venture' but some solo content is necessary. There are many things in the game such as resource gathering and crafting, that most people wouldn't want the game to require a group for because it would be a huge inconvenience to the process. Even in the very first MMOs you weren't parading around with a group of people at all times.

It is the persistent world full of people that makes an MMO, not just the act of partying up and acting as a group. Believe it or not many people enjoy simply immersing themselves in a persistent fantasy world becaues they enjoy being in the environment- inot just because it's a "multiplayer' game.

It's a nightmare. Look, I get that you want people to be able to play alone, and have their own stories. But that didn't stop TOR or Guild Wars from letting your party members into your personal story instances, and those games are wrecks.
I think i should point out that citing another game as an example of something and then calling that game a "wreck" doesn't exactly support your argument of making things that way in this game.
