Ah F.A.T.E. parties post 2.1: The last bastion for dungeonless DPS.
People are still gonna do FATEs because in FATEs you don't have to be accountable for gear or your ability to play the game. Its just a zerg where no one really has a role and you just do whatever. In a dungeon, you have a defined role and its much easier to see if you are actually being competent or not. I feel that there will be many people who will not want that responsibility and scrutiny and would rather just still do FATEs where they can be lone wolfs doing whatever they want.
When there are 50-100 people doing a FATE(like Svara) it doesn't really matter to play your class properly and not being lazy or any of that. You can have "harder" FATEs but they will either be overzerged or ignored if they are too hard. FATE groups aren't going to be actually playing with strategy or trying to optimize their roles.IMO the best thing they can do to the FATE system to make it less boring is replace some of the common FATES from time to time with harder/rarer FATEs that will actually dominate a party if you don't play it correctly.
These fates should reward you with better EXP, more gil, more seals, and maybe even rare drops. They should also wipe you if you are being lazy/not actually playing your class properly.
Dungeons should offer more xp given it's done in a party but I want FATE party to be viable still because it keeps the zones more lively. The last thing you want is a server with deserted outdoor zones and everyone stuck in instances, which will kill whatever vibe is left in the game. I do think FATE can last given the nation seal reward though.
Keeps the zones alive? Pretty sure FATEs are done in less than 5 zones... Starter Zone > Quarrymill > Costa del Sol > Coethas > Bluefog.. Doesn't really keep zones alive at all. If you ask me making Dungeon EXP better will keep zones alive, since if i'm going to run a particular dungeon for EXP, i'd be shouting in the zone it resides in. That's just my opinion though.Dungeons should offer more xp given it's done in a party but I want FATE party to be viable still because it keeps the zones more lively. You're assuming a lot of things, there.People are still gonna do FATEs because in FATEs you don't have to be accountable for gear or your ability to play the game. Maybe people are just bored of doing dungeons. They already do them over and over as a level 50, might as well do something else while leveling.
Does anyone know if they said it'll be a flat increase or something more complex. I could see them implementing a system in which you get double (or whatever) for the first run of the day/week and then the next time its 1.5, then 1.25 or something along those lines.
I like the gorgimera fate. You can survive as a DPS and laugh at all the dead bodies. I think it's the best FATE in the entire game.
I remember doing that fate thinking 'there's no way they'll put Dragon's Voice in an outdoor zone with 50 players around a mob' and then I saw Dragon's Voice being cast. Fun times.
Dungeons still take way to long to kill trash mobs and at end game its the same crap / AK and WP... So why bother lvling an alt . When there are that many restricitions on having them anyway
