Relics , are not relices anymore

Are you serious? Its not about being special or whatever....its about SE gimping the meaning behind the relic weapons. In previous FF (not just ffxi) relics were the most difficult to get yet most rewarding.

Did you play any of the other FF games?

Imagine playing any ff and getting masamune, Excalibur, gae bolg etc in the early part of the game -_- they are meant to be iconic and THE best...period. This has nothing to do with feeling special...well at least not to me anyway.

To be fair you still have to put a monumental amount of effort into getting a relic if it's your first one. Obviously people who are already geared, rich, know the game, etc., will have no problems gearing up their other classes with relics, but a new player is still going to have to put a lot of effort into it if they want their first relic.

And obviously the relic was never intended to be the only weapon you will ever have. I'd like to think that come 2.2 there will be weapons better than relic+1 that people can aim for.

I do believe it is intended to be the best. In 1.0 interviews about 2.0 yoshida said in 2.0 relic is meant to be the best and we will get quests to improve it into the legendary weapon slowly over time...just Google ffxiv legendary weapon its easy to find.
