Do you really think any serious player cares about who's first to clear a dungeon that's meant to be cleared by a pug in AK gear? Anyone who's going to try to claim fame out of this is laughable.

Progression for casual to semi-hardcore players, maybe.
Meanwhile, I foresee hardcore players not renewing their subs.

idk, most people who consider themselves casual play this game at a minimum of 5x as much as me and more often closer 10-20x many hours a week as I do.
Outside of the hour in Coil and the hour not really caring about WP I don't log into this game and I haven't run a different schedule in almost 3 months. It doesn't much more casual than that.
Here is the problem. We all knew MONTHS ago that CT was the step between ak and coil. The dev team delivered what they promised... 24 man content that fits the gap between. Also the patch gives us PVP, more primals, more dungeons, different dungeons, and some class balances, housing, ability to change appearance. Any ONE of those would be a big deal in a patch. But apparently its not cool to think of all that we get... just whine about one aspect of the plethora of content delivered in a PATCH. I think anything but an EXPANSION when a game has been out half a year is what people are wanting. That is crazy.
Hard Core raiders (yes myself included) will have to wait till 2.2 for more coil and such. They have been telling us this for quite some time now.
Here is the actual problem, Tower was supposed to be released along with Coil. It however was pushed back a patch. Now, we are looking at 2.1 for CT (vanity/alt content) then wait till 2.2 for Progression content all for 2.3 to be again, vanity content with 2.4 being more coil perhaps. They need to get back to the original schedule and either release the second parts of Tower and Coil at the same time or put Floor 2 harder then Coil turns 1-5 and release that before the next turns in Coil. Here is the problem. This getting of basically vanity or alt content as fillers is not going to cut it for very long. Single boss duties and junk to fill your vanity chest is not get to hold people over for the 3 months while progression content is being worked on.

I have to say that this announcement shocked me. CT was originally supposed to come out at launched. Then it was pushed back. Then it was pushed back again. Referring to all of 2.1 being pushed back a month. Now SE is planning on releasing CT without the ability to make a 24 man group? This is going to kill FCs. Ours has 6 BC groups so that we could do 2 full CTs. Right now with current content, I don't even get to play with more than my 8 man BC group. That fact that SE even began to think that this might be acceptable is insane. I understand the game is new. I understand things get delayed. I cant understand the fact that the ONE raid where more than a small group can get together, you cant do as a FC. So now I have to gamble that the other two 8 man groups don't suck. Cause from what Yoshi-P said, there are parts where we cant help each other. I promise you whats going to happen is 2 good groups are going to get stuck and not be able to finished because 1 group is bad.

Just queue up over and over again until you get your FC members together. That has been a feasible suggestion from many of the FC out there trying to work out a solution to this new problem. Maybe adjusting your raid times a bit for when no as many FC's are queuing at the same time to help ensure you get all your own people. There are some clever solutions out there for certain.
In WoW they came out with a pugable raid, & in many peoples eyes it ruined the raiding community. It made people rage on new players, and visa-versa It also made people think raiding was easy and faceroll, & then they would QQ when they found the "real" raid too hard and demanded it be nerfed. Nonraiders or casual raiders are the majority of players in any MMO, and companies tend to cater to them. This is not a bad thing, as long as companies realize the raiding community is strong too, and lots of these nonraiders join the game cause their raider friends suggested it. Raiders leave, casuals leave.
They are adding a lot in this patch for nonraiders, and that is good to have a vast amount to do outside of raiding and just for people who don't raid. But if they start dumbing down the majority of their raiding content, they will see a mass exodus like what happened in Rift and SWTOR of recent past.
