    Poor Frame rate

    Hey guys,

I just upgraded from a radeon hd 5670 to a 7970, my question is why am I still getting very poor fps in crowded areas, especially aetherytes?(even if it's not crowded). My GPU usage shows only 30%, and CPU also 30%. Does anyone know how to make these work harder? (I admit 30 fps in towns is a lot better because my previous card only got 6)

I have the same problem, my cpu/GPU are at 40-50%

I have a 7800 series and get about 50 fps most of the time, it drops if I zoom all the way out to about 30 fps.
I am not using the beta drivers though.

Other than that maybe wait for the direct X 11 update.

I figured it went worse as I play, I go as bad as 6 FPS in wineport.. any ideas? My processor is i5, power supply 750, ram 8gb.. Really stresses me out cause my new card is only as good as my old one.. Tried both windowed and fullscreen too, if i restarted my computer and played again it would be ok for the first hour or 30 minutes and then eventually go bad again..

Ya don't know what's up I get about 24-25 in a full player till area. My laptop gets the same and it's only a 770 nividia :/. Crossfire also doesn't work since I get worse fps with it on. I'm starting to think the 7900 models are more setup to run dx11 then dx9. Guess will see if/when dx11 ff14 comes out

That's crazy. Your GTX 770M is a pretty new and higher end mobile GPU (3GB GDDR5). You should be getting WAY better frame rates than 24-25. I don't know a ton about NVidia, but could it be the bridge? I've heard about issues with Sandy and even Ivy. Are there any beta drivers that you can try out or even turn off the integrated GPU and force the dedicated to run full time? The problem with alot of these bridges (trinity, sandy, ivy) are they force you to use the integrated or they bottleneck you down the same bus as the integrated. If you can disable the integrated card (the BIOS sometimes has this option or you can force it through clocking or state changes) you shouldn't (in theory) be in a choke point and your frame rates should go way up.

770M only getting 25fps though is REALLY low. Not even close to normal low. Your computer is bottlenecking it.

There must be some setting error somewhere.. because when i tried playing it in my office computer (it was a 7850 or something) it worked perfectly fine.. no lag, no fps drops.. But then again I might only play for a brief amount of time.

What happens for me in my current computer is that it gets progressively worse the longer I have my computer on, up to 30 fps then it doesn't get any worse. On lonely areas the limit is about 39 fps on HIGH, 58-61 fps on STANDARD desktop. On super crowded fates it will go as low as 11 fps zoomed out.

Here's an overview of my stuff

    i5 2.79 GHZ
    Powercolor 7970 3GB
    Motherboard Intel DH55TC
    8GB ram
    750W PSU
    Monitor samsung Syncmaster BX2240
Driver beta 13.1 Catalyst control center

i reckon its a software cap on performance thats in the game, same here my gpu and cpu are no where near 100% during these areas and the fps goes to crap, yet when im not in a crowded area it can run at 100% it may well be a limitation of direct x 9, even unparking all the cores on the cpu doesnt really do anything.

I've seen AMD APU's and GPU's do this. When in high stress areas, they almost ratchet themselves back as a failsafe (protect against heat/overloading I'd imagine).

I had to download BAR-EDIT and PSCheck where I locked the APU's cores into their max state all the time (2500MHz, 4 cores, 12x multipliers). Horrible for battery life (if using a laptop), but it will keep you cranked as high as it will go and you should see gains in performance.

You can also download overdrive and play around with the CPU and NB voltages to try to force the clocks to max, though I've had some problems doing this (Too much voltage draw freaks the machine out and I do artifact and core dump if pushed too high).

So I tried overclocking my 2.8 ghz CPU to 3.0. It worked wonders! My fps went from 20 to 100 in crowded areas!
