I just did this fate as a level 29 Gladiator. Not only did I hit the monster first, I also tanked (held aggro) the entire time the monster was alive. I received no experience from it, nor any indication that I had earned gold, silver, bronze, etc. Other members of my party did.

4. Tank Cancer (the monster) for the entire FATE.
5. Kill Cancer successfully without dying.
6. Receive no notification on what rank (gold/silver/bronze) the fate was completed with, and no experience or rewards.
