Legacy to Non-Legacy World transfers

It's become increasingly unfortunate that there still exists the restriction of Legacy players trying to go to a non-legacy server. Personally, I put myself on a Legacy server during Day Two of release since absolutely none of the American servers were open, and Ridill was what it put me on. Now I find it nigh impossible to play endgame on a foreign server, and wish to join my friends on a NA server, but the current restriction prevents my character from moving over.

I'm not sure exactly why the restrictions are still in place, especially with 2.1 around the corner (I think there was something about Legacy servers making more Gil than non-legacy?). Hopefully this issue isn't put on the back burner and forgotten by the developers, because it's hampering my ability to progress through the game.

I would think everyone should be on an even enough playing field with the release of the next patch that they could open up unrestricted transfers between worlds.

Personally I would have made a new character by now if I wanted to play on non-legacy. SE is going to take their time with something like this.

They stated early on it would be 6 months. I have a legacy character waiting to transfer with about 20 TIV cracked materia (I can trade them in for any TIV materia). This is one of the reasons why allowing a transfer now would cause drastic changes in a non-legacy economy. It is not only the gil that matters, but the items we have from 1.0 that are now harder to get. We used to buy the tome crafting materials for gil in 1.0 from NPCs, some of us have tons of these rare materials and materia.

If this is the problem then why don't they just restrict 1.0 characters from transferring to a non-legacy? My character isn't 1.0 and frankly is rather pitiful in comparison to the standard that is apparently being held for Legacy server players. Heck, I would bargain I've got less wealth than 80% of the players on a non-legacy server :/

The restrictions are still in place because it created an equal playing field for people on non legacy servers. I'm sorry but you made a really bad decision to role your character on a legacy server. When in doubt when it comes to MMOs ALWAYS take the patient road, never the impatient one.

Now what I don't understand is, with all of the instances being cross server. How is playing on a legacy server impairing your ability to progress in the game?

it because they dont wany anyone owning the market board, even though there is no equal playing field anyways. they should let people transfer. RMT buyers exist they screw up everything anyways. makes no sense.
just wait RMT will be booming when housing comes along, your gonna see people you never farmed or farmed enough to buy stuff that cost alot of gil.

The markets of Legacy Servers are still highly different from those of Non-Legacy. I would not expect L->NL until Feb 2014 / 2.15/2.2
