Gardening because GRASS!!

Thanks for confirmingThere indeed was meant to be such a class in 1.0, it was called Shepherd but was dummied out of the game's client, like Musketeer and the original version of Arcanist. There was even a Guild building for it (which was locked) in the hamlet of Owl's Nest in Coerthas (which no longer exists in ARR). Sadly all references to it have been removed in ARR, so we can only assume SE has decided to abandon the class completely.![]()
I personally really enjoyed Enchanting from WoW....I know.i'll probably be flamed for bringing up the game that dare not be named...but I did enjoy that class.
I would love to see a Chocobo Breeder class as DoH - Have it be a high barrier to entry, like needing 3mil gil to buy a stable, or you can rent stables from players or NPCs, and then be able to breed chocobos by buying or gathering from botanist/something like the arcane gatherer or something like a mechanical gatherer like scavenger, to make different "Knuts" for the chocos you buy to breed with.
Give the chocos different runspeeds and abilities, and allow people to sell them to players:
- Blue Choco = current choco runspeed + extra high jump | adds a passive MP regen to combat when summoned
- Green Choco = current choco runspeed + sprint button | adds a passive HP regen to combat when summoned
- White Choco = 1.25 current choco runspeed + immunity to draw ins/knock backs while mounted | adds a 10% buff to magic damage in combat when summoned
- Black Choco = 1.25 current choco runspeed + cloaks you to all hostile creates that are more than 1 level below you | adds a 10% buff to melee damage in combat when summoned
- Gold Choco = 1.35 current choco runspeed + all other choco abilities | 1/2 of all other choco's combat abilities
Just make then expensive as all hell to breed and to buy : D
Ehayte thats a cool idea. I've always hated that there's only one runspeed of the mounts.
Choco breeding is to be a part of housing so there will not be a class for it.
Personally I wish they hadn't abandoned the Shepherd class. I kind of envisioned it as being able to gather stuff off animals, perhaps stuff unavailable any other way.
I was also amused by the thought that BST might have required something like LNC 30 + Shepherd 15.
Ah, well - all the same principals apply either way, I guess thinking about it again my ideas would not be dependent on anything other than creating the knuts, which could be done in other DoH, or Botany.
LMAO - awesome. I'd also love to see a Chemist that is Arcanist/Alchemist.

Chocobo Breeder may cause a lot of unbalance if it affects other classes performance. So far, they've done a pretty good job with crafting and gathering and battle classes, because not everyone wants to be everything/feels it's REQUIRED to be everything. The problem chocobo breeder has is that it may offset everyone's priorities to where it's detrimental NOT to get it leveled up first.
The logical thing to do (if you don't want everyone to be a carbon copy of everyone else) is make it casual, as much as many people don't want to hear it. Make it trivial enough to where some/most people don't consider it worth the time ........... kind of like gathering. People do it for - dare I say - "fun" or to save their gil. This goes for ANY new DoH/L classes.
The other option is to make an equivalent case for combat classes that may feel excluded for not wanting to take the time to level something like a DoL up, such as finding "instant win" chocobo eggs out in the dungeons or something.
I'm not following a lot of those ideas - can you elaborate on how chocobos will create class imbalance?
If you make it so that chocobo breeders can sell chocobos to other players, then each server would only really require one person to do it (and then make absolute bank off having monopolistic pricing!). That way its like all the other crafting classes, its either worth your time to level up the craft, or you can trade your time in the form of gil to someone who has already mastered the craft, or, in this case, put the time in breeding chocobos.
