    In GW2 you did gain exp quickly even at cap. Running around WvW was easy levels and most of the time you didn't even notice you dinged. I personally liked that system because you were still progressing towards the end-game item or other things to spend skill points on.

    Atlantica Online did the same thing. It didn't end well and as soon as the update came max level people were bored again. Pick your poison. Bored before the cap increase or bored right after.

    hhmm well if it just resets at a re-cap, gained exp would just be lost then.
    we need an indication of how much exp we've really gained....
    how about a second bar that shows total exp gained that won't reset no matter what, and won't affect the levels? and a way to show it off, of course

    I'm a fan of a completely separate "XP" system earned by level capped players that can go towards various minor buffs and utility. It's not part of the leveling XP system, rather something else entirely.

My point is, it'd be quite nice to keep track of the Exp I've piled up, even if you don't get the actual level out of it until cap is lifted. Where's the harm? Cap is lifted, you shoot straight through to 60. You still have plenty to tune in for, updates and patches, main story extensions... Only difference is, this way you wouldn't be getting buggered out of a few million Exp points.

    I meant the format would reset at re-cap not the Exp gained, you'd keep that.

    Here's my issue, a re-cap could take months if not a year to come, in that time, while you were concentrating on other things you could've accumulated millions if not a couple billion Exp. At the moment that either isn't being presented or the Exp is just getting sucked into void space. How is that fair on anyone?

    Hard to answer that because of the cap. The way things are set up it's hard to determine if you get ANYTHING after 50.

    Let me ask you this Yoshi: Where's the incentive to go back an help lower level players once you have all the seals and tomes you need? Why should I? Why shouldn't I just concentrate on my DL gear? I just don't get it, one minute you're trying to instil a proper community, one that helps its fellow player and the next you're providing literally no incentive. I'd personally help without the incentive but the majority won't.
    Well i can tell you that the answer to that question is certainly not "give me exp past the level cap so that when I do get the cap raised (from 50-60) that Im already level 59".

    That would make absolutely 0 sense. Im not criticizing your idea but I think you want something that would be "OP" in terms of incentive.

    I like to help people just because. I have fun when I do it. that is the reward. I think that at cap the battle exp you would gain can and should be put towards other things. as it stands, its not, and that is not something game breaking for me.

    I'm the same, but the majority aren't. What happens when the lack of incentive starts leaking over? This game in particular is absolutely reliant on pro assistance. You take away the incentive, you can pretty much take away the pro assistance. If you take away the pro assistance the game is broken.

    I did address your concern earlier, I said the Exp should be cut down majorly and the cap ALMOST lifted to 51, meaning you'd be 1 shy of 51, not 59. I was suggesting the cap be unlimited but I note your concern. I don't personally think it'd be an issue, but that's just me. Whether you do 10 times the levelling before cap lift while you're doing other things or you level up regularly after the cap, I guess the result is the same. I just don't like the fact my hard earned Exp is being sucked into nothingness.

    I'm a little confused about this. It seems like there are two primary concerns going on about the exp bar here. The first is that it's unfair(?) that you don't gain exp. I don't understand the unfair aspect of it. Everyone's in the same boat on being capped. It really just seems like you simply want to get that extra level immediately upon cap increase (which probably won't happen for a very long time). That is not a valid reason for anyone to change their system that is already in-place (and is a normal and practical decision to begin with).

    The second is that it'd put a use to the exp bar. It really doesn't need a use though, and again, kind of just sounds like you're trying to get as much of an edge as possible towards that day far in the future. Plus, you'd pretty much have no use for the bar upon hitting that 99.9% exp fill... so... back to square one? Again, kinda goes back to just wanting that extra unnecessary advantage (which results in going right back to where you started).

    I mean, there is always the possibility of them throwing in a "merit system" like in FFXI, if the concern really is just about the bar having a use. I just really wouldn't get my hopes up on such a thing.

    I used to play a game where there was no exp cap and people keep accumulating exp even after max level. Then they raise the max level and people got bored after 1 week saying they're already at max level, no need to do the one at intermediate levels anymore and nothing to do. No thanks.

    Wrong on both counts. I suggested a number of fixes in topics to fix that, like a 90% reduction after hitting 50 so that Exp earned was purely passive. I also suggested on a cap just before 51, so you wouldn't technically be level 51, you'd be a fraction away from it.. Just gonna copy and paste it in a minute, lol.
