    Suggestion: Camera Lock/Auto-Run tweak

I've been working on archer lately, and I'm having camera problems. I'd like to be able to kite while keeping the enemy in view. What I would like is a way to keep the camera locked behind my character (I play in 3rd person, legacy, on a pc), so I can run and not have to worry about moving the camera as well. I know Standard settings accomplishes this, but when trying to kite a mob you can't attack unless you're facing it, and if you select Auto-face target while attacking you're going to mess up your movement.

I've found something close to a solution with my legacy settings using the auto run feature. If I'm auto-running to kite, I can turn the camera and myself by dragging the mouse, but I stop auto-running as soon as I do an ability. So, maybe just create an option to remain in auto-run after the use of an ability.

Maybe there's some way that other people playing this class have managed and I haven't stumbled across it yet, but I feel like this could help.

Sorry my computer is up in smokes and wont get a new one for a while and idk if u play using a gamepad, but on the gamepad u can push L3 and it will auto target w/e it is that you have selected, and no matter where u go it automatically re adjusts your camera so u are facing that enemy.

For PC controls idk what it would be, i know for gamepad it is L3 so i would say go into keymapping or w/e its called, and find something that says "lock" "auto lock" maybe? or maybe switch to a controller mode and see if they have a re mapping available for a controller and just see what the action is called that is on the L3 button than switch back to keyboard and find that and put it to a hot key? maybe that will work?

I had a controller (it recently died on me ; ; ) but auto lock isn't what I want. If I auto-lock it just strafes, and going backwards is pretty useless because it's so slow, so I avoid auto-lock on anything. Not to mention if I auto-lock a big mob it messes with my camera (I'm glaring at you, Demon Wall..) so yeah, auto-lock doesn't do what I'd like.

I know what you're looking for and afaik it does not exist as a current game setting.
For all fights (except 1, stupid cyclops in Vale) I use standard mode.
I use the right mouse button to control my camera while I move (and move relative to camera facing, rather than camera track to moving), I will use WASD for movement which I can get with 1 finger, and still reach for 1/2/3/4. If you're not used to doing something like this it WILL confuse your fingers and you have to be quick to reset your hand(s) when you're done so you can reach all your actions or you'll be hitting the wrong things for a bit.

*most* of my actions are on 1/2/3/4, CTRL 1/2/3/4, ALT 1/2/3/4 or CTRL+ALT 1/2/3/4. I use my oGCD actions with mouse click.
hotbar 1/2/3 (class actions), hotbar 10 (runs beside the party list for targeted macros)
hotbar 4 -shared chocobo/mount actions, UI add/remove macro
hotbar 5/6 -shared class change & "swap" macro, they overlap so only 1 is visible and I click to toggle them
    hotbar 7/8 -shared Marking/targeting & emote/levequest again with a toggle macro
hotbar 9 - shared food and potions

Yeah I quickly discovered my fingers can be a tangled mess if I need to really reach for anything. I guess I'll just have to keep working with it. I've never used the side hotbars though, so maybe I'll have to play with those and see if they help anything. I don't particularly care of standard mode, but it does make it easier. I guess I'll have to learn to play that way on archer. Thanks for the info!
