Won't really matter what server your on to be fair df pulls from a few different servers not just one that your on, I've played with players from multiple servers and that was just yesterday. Having a friend usually helps if they on tank or healer. Another option could be to shout out for help in one if the three cities. I know gridania has quite a lot of people in it.
There should be a lot of other players shouting in the towns about joining there Free Company(FC) and welcome new players.
