    What's with this community?

    I don't know if it's the server I'm on but jesus christ . . .

Almost everyone is dull, tense and serious. Any joke, light jab, you see next to no reaction from some of these players. It's just all down to serious business. And any slight hint of an insult and they get salty really fast. I sometimes wonder how you actually enjoy this game if everyone is like this?

If you want an example just yesterday there was a crafter (who fit all of the above descriptions btw), was over charging melds. So obviously a few people point this out, and next thing you know he tries to be "funny" by advertising free ilv70 hq crafts. Yea I guess it was funny for the first 20 minutes but he went on for at least an hour. Way to kill a slightly funny joke. And the way he said it... "im going hard until I fail". Kind of obvious hes salty.

I work with the very stereotypical middle age office people and I'm really sad to say they are more lively and interesting than half of the people I run into :|

It's not all bad, some do this. Others do this. In other words it may or may not be your server, or luck.

people in my fc are fairly fun, love to joke, if you change to ragnarok, hit me up

ps. hate the way people are trying to make this game into a second job, i play a game to have fun, not to allocate more work time in my life >.>

For some people life is hard, they play a game to try and switch off. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. One person who seems salty one day might be fine the next.

Sometimes it is hard to slap on the fun face and keep it there even if what you are doing is supposed to be fun.

This is a gradual change that has happened in all MMO communities, you can't get away from it no matter where you go. I attribute it to design changing from relying on each other to reach the end and the rise of solo content. Not that I don't like solo content, I like both designs, but solo content means people don't have to learn to play well with others to get to the end. In EQ1 and FFXI, you pretty much did.
