Riot Blade Useless?

Riot Blade does the same damage (maybe a little bit more) as circle slash II, costs twice as much TP and prevents you from using any WS for 30 seconds, making it impossible to hold agro on that enemy after you use it. How is this worth it at all? If Riot Blade made the enemy not able to use WS's then I would totally understand, however for a gladiator to not be able to use WS is just dumb.

There seems to be, as far as GLA is concerned, many skills that just don't seem worth using. Taking Riot Blade for example, but also other skillls that just don't seem as "useful". Something about the lack of utility of many of them seem to corner you into using maybe 2-3 on your action bar, not including Phalanx of course.

I think there should be more apparent effects for WS in general, something I'm sure they probably have been working on, only have to wait and see.

Not just GLA, a lot of classes have useless abilities/WS... hence the whole class uniqueness they are currently addressing.

Personally, I still use Howling Vortex as my main WS (apart from Phalanx ofc)

Damage is good, especially on high level mobs (falls off less than other WSs).

Can be used from range.

Disables body parts.

No, it's not a primary WS to use for DD, but it's hardly useless. Spinstroke is a solid WS when not tanking, and Phalanx spam when you have hate is much more TP-efficient hate anyway.

The pacification is only 20 seconds. Depending on the fight and your role in it, that's low enough to not really be an issue.

The pacification is a bit annoying, yes, but the WS is hardly useless. It's just more situational than others. (pew pew)

If you're tanking an NM (you know, the only 5 mobs in the game that aren't perfectly fine being free-for-all spam), you're not consistently getting 2000 TP in 20 seconds. And if you're looking for damage on NMs, Luminous Spire doesn't miss, but Riot Blade does the most damage when it hits (I mostly use LS myself, but NMs are pretty easy too, and goofing off on boring fights is fun).

For anything else (except if you're looking to incap something's right arm, or need to hit something far away) you wouldn't use Riot Blade as your primary DD WS. But on most leve mobs, it's fairly easy for stuff to die fast enough that you've got extra TP left over. Why not have fun going for big numbers when it really doesn't matter anyway?
