    Removal of the Stamina Gauge and Auto-attack : Repercussions on Lancer?

    So, I just read that the stamina gauge is going away. I wonder what this means for the [Speed Surge] ability, since it's primary function is to make the stamina gauge fill faster.

    I wonder if SE will ditch the ability completely, or try and salvage it by making auto-attack repeat faster. Or perhaps make cooldowns for Lancer abilities shorter?

    Also, with addition of Auto-attack, what will happen with the Full Thrust and Pierce abilities?

    Up to now, the rapid attacks and ability to quickly generate TP were two of the defining abilities of Lancers, and they seem in danger of going away in the battle system rework.

    I'm just indulging in some fun and friendly speculation about how this will affect the Lancer class.

    That was the first thing that came in mind when i read yesterday's Q/A...Speed Surge.

    Because with the removal of stanmina the correct would be it become haste, which would be terrible because haste would bring one of 2 points:
    -Being barely noticeable, killing a good skill
    -Staying very good, but bringing a damage nerf to balance the speed.

    Or they can just turn it into haste samba. As soon as the effect start affecting everyone hitting the mob, problem solved!

    But i do am concerned about it...because haste outside the spell is what messed FFXI...but i prefer to wait to see the battle adjustment info before doing further commenting...after all we don't know how auto-attack will work, is recasts will be adjusted, skill durations, etc.

    I've been thinking the same thing too, im wondering if Feint will still be a viable ability in a auto-attack system and if that means its just going to become zanshin. Which would likely be weaker than the feint we have now. I Would hope SE arent going to get rid of pierce completely and to be honest i dont see why they couldnt work those normal attacks in through some sort of mode system.

    I must admit... I am very nervous about what might happen to LNC... right now its the only combat job that I seem to enjoy. If it gets heavily altered and becomes a fundamentally different job...

    I 'm feeling the same as everyone else here! :0 Lancer was my first job to 50 and is still my favorite in the game.

    It's excellent at TP building and speeding up attack rate, but we all know this and with the deletion of supposed standard and default attack methods, what happens to Pierce, Full Thrust and other excellent abilities such as Speed Surge II (which I use to absorbing HP, as well as for allies to absorb HP, and it speeds up the attack rate).

    I spent my Guild Marks on Pierce and Full Thrust, so what happens if we can't use them anymore, since they are considered manual abilities for standard attack. Pierce was great for hitting multiple enemies at the same time. Will that still be possible with the new battle system? Will thse loses be awarded by the ability to finally, "Jump" at enemies?

    I am very, very excited to see the new dazzling animation for Chaos Thrust though! But these many questions I am eager to learn answers for in the near future, as I'm sure everyone else on this post is. We'll just have to stay tuned and see what's in store!

    Speed Surge worked just as Haste Samba did in XI, it shouldn't be any different now.
