I'm in a mix of Hoplite and DL gear and I've made it pass Titan's Heart and it's during that final phase after the Heart where I've seen the most geared parties wipe. It's not a hard fight. Just have to learn how to dodge the bombs, landslide, and plumes.

You could probably do it but you shouldn't skimp on your gear if you are tanking Titan where if their HP/Defense is too low they can be wiped out by a lucky crit + mountain buster or maybe a healer goes down when Titan is at 5% or something else happens. It is one thing to require being overgeared (which is idiotic) but seriously, there is no point to not come in at least slightly prepared as it will save everyone a lot of headaches. We can all fart out rainbows and sunshine about not requiring crazy gear but at the end of the day it will benefit everyone if you do your best to improve your gear beforehand.

You can run the content a ton of times waiting for the stars to align and you get that perfect run where you win, or you can get better gear and make your attempts much more consistent and prepare you for future challenges beyond Titan. Obviously do some runs here and there but people shouldn't stop improving their gear in preparation because each upgrade makes a win much more likely.

It just depends. If one dps queues "undergeared" it's perfectly fine as long as they can stay up and avoid bombs. You get multiple people queuing in their AF gear and a GC weapon and it's just impossible. For this reason they should implement iLevel checks for DF. A server made party should allow us to bring whoever we want.

I'm a little shocked someone would publicly express shame over helping a FC mate get their relic. I look forward to helping my FC members get theirs and am glad if I could save them the frustration of needlessly wiping over and over in random DF groups.

Titan HM most certainly should require a gear check to join. Having 3 or more players in level 30ish gear....yes its happened. Didn't even bother to do their job quests for those armors. I don't mind helping others but that's just lazy. Hopefully we can have the option to replace those that leave as well someday. Inexperience is one thing. Being a total ...... is another.

I don't know what to say about this fight except my own experiences with it. For the last week I've been trying to kill this guy for my relic and even though I've spent about 2 hrs a day, I've yet to beat him... and here's why. It's not so much people dying from random plumes or bombs, but instead my groups can never get passed the heart. I always look at the parser and this what I see almost every time - Dmg to heart - me at 12-14k (not counting LB), 2nd place at 4-6k, 3rd at 4-5k, 4th at 3-4k. I've gotten to the point where I purposefully do less dps during the entire fight before the heart to ensure lb 2 can be used during the heart, yet it doesn't matter. With me slowing down my dps, by the end of the fight I'll be sitting at 150 dps (190 when I try) and then the others will all be below 90. It's very frustrating. As for my gear, I have garuda weapon with 4 pc DL and mix of 55-60 in the rest of the slots, also I am a monk.

Now I would say perhaps a gear check would help, but many times I see others in the same type of gear that I have, yet people just for some reason cannot dps for some reason. Anyway, that fight via DF is very hard and very frustrating. Would I want them to nerf the fight? Not really because for now there isn't much else to do when I do get my relic weapon so I'm not feeling super rushed at the moment.

I've seen dragoons spamming chaos thrust and blm spamming blizzard III. Suppose that may be why I've witnessed several failures at heart even with +1 dps in group. However, the past few days there's been a series of dragoons and SMN whom are breaking records for landslides encountered though. Not to mention a cleric geared WHM going afk at the start and refusing to play if a single player has level 55 gear.

Seems to me that a person that wants to be part of a team would bring his best, because his performance impacts everyone he is grouped with. With this in mind, it makes me shake my head when players join Titan HM in low level gear. For every additional stat you have you're making it that much easier on everyone else.

Sure it can be beaten in your AF, but if you grab some AK gear and a few darklight pieces just imagine how much that will make things easier for everyone you're with. I think its universally understood that selflessness is a virtue, but if we queue up in sub-par gear aren't we being selfish? Wouldn't we be in effect saying that the other members in our party aren't important enough for us to come as prepared as we can be?

The amount of illogic in this discussion astounds me.

If you queue to get carried, then you are being selfish not caring about the others, but if you join Titan HM and you heal/tank/dps efficiently, then there's nothing to complain about.
In my case, for example, I play undergeared (not anymore, I'm full DL+relic now), but that doesn't mean I don't care about succeeding. I queue, I enter, and if no one complains about my gear I always manage to do my best properly, doing Titan with 2900 HP without problems as a WHM in a WHM-SCH 2heal group.
And please stop saying I'm getting carried, I've had enough.
You can see it as "xy=k", where X is the gear, and Y is the skill: the higher your gear, the less skill you'll need, the less skill you have, the higher gear you'll need.

I don't think anyone is saying if you don't have the gear you can't complete Titan. The past has shown that AF+DL or bikini + relic CAN beat titan. It's just that 90% of the people who play FFXIV aren't as skilled as those players. So having a minimum gear requirement would give a bigger buffer for people who aren't as skilled. And from my experience, most of the AF+i55 weapon people are the first to die.

And from my understanding the gear check WON'T BE MANDATORY FOR FULLY FORMED PARTIES. Therefore, it shouldn't affect the people who want the 'challenge'. They just need to make their own group.

For Yandere: Most (not all) people aren't saying you're being carried, it just makes the fight overall easier for everyone collectively if you're geared. That's all. More room for mistakes, no 'one mess up and you wipe' mentality. If you're geared enough you CAN take a bomb that you lagged during and live. Or possibly a double plume. It's just a greater chance of success.
