Leveling Speed for Alternate Classes

For those of you who are not just sticking to one character and are in the process of leveling others to 50 or already have them all to 50, I noticed a few things and I'm just throwing them out there, others feel free to share your experience please!

Caster classes seem to be the most tedious and PITA classes to level quickly and efficiently IMO. It took me a week and a half to do my BLM (doing the story quest as it was my first 50) to get it done and i was going at a snails pace. Which to most seems like it was fast, but it really didn't feel that way.

I got my Bard to 50 in just 2 days (did a full 27 hour straight game night) and that seemed to go much faster!

Now I'm working on my Archanist.. dear god. In an 6 to 8 hours gaming day, i only hit 8 levels (20-28). I was grinding fates, using my FC's 5% exp buff, had full rested exp and more, and even used a food buff for exp. It's starting to really put me off ever getting a WHM, the sound of it makes me cringe only casting Stone and Aero :/

It feels like the casting classes are slower to level to me? Or maybe I should have taken a break after getting a Bard to 50 last week? I don't have a clue.

I tend to agree with you. This is why I've saved all side quests for my mage jobs. That way I have the supplemental xp from quests to make the leveling a bit less tedious.

I leveled up my BLM in 1 week (alter) and it was a bit tedious. I'll start MNK and I'll see if it takes the same mount of time. They should give more exp for leves so you don't have to stick witn FATEs only.

2.1 will bring us some new quests from the new storyline. If they will provide us the same huge amount of exp as the main story did, we should expect to use them to help leveling at least 1 alt quickly.
I guess way more side quests everywhere will be added, and battlecraft leves exp should be increased too.

Well since After I hit this Archanist to 50, the only cast class I will have left to level is the WHM, by the time 2.1 does come out, Hopefully I can have all classes to 50 (not including crafting and gathering), but I wasn't 100% clear what i meant. The class itself (casting classes) feel slower to level. Maybe its because we cant move and cast like the other classes. But i do know that cast times in fates during prime hours sucks because by the time you cast, its already over lol

I don't see how leveling a mage class could take any longer than a melee class. If you're a dungeon grinder that's one thing, but for FATE grinds you can literally Flash spam your way to 50. I know, I did it with my WHM.

Leveling your first job to 50 will always be slower than leveling alts because of the armory bonus exp system. If you have a DoW/DoM class leveled to 50, then all other DoW/DoM classes you level will get a permanent 50% bonus exp when killing mobs. It makes a significant difference when fate grinding.

I don't know how effective Arcanists/Whitemages are in fates but as long as you join a good party it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

See i solo fates until 40-42ish, when im at the processing plant is when I get in parties or start parties. I am usually playing at off peak time hours so there's only a handful of players on in the area at the time. I can gold the fates no problem solo that's not the issue. I'm just saying it FEELS like it takes longer leveling casting classes. Also, this thread isn't about complaining about the game or how slow it is or improvements or anything like that. Simply and observation thread of what you feel like you notice and see if other people agree with you.

You can use spells from thamaturge (spelling?) to make it a tad bit less spamy ; )

thunder and swiftcast are the only ones that are useful coming from the Thaumaturge class. I dunno. I'll just be happy once the Archanist is level 50. I can take it to both sides of summoner and scholar immediately. Maybe its just that I realized after taking my Bard to 50, i have a lot more fun moving and doing DPS than standing there hoping i dont have to interrupt my cast to dodge an AOE who knows! Still got GLA, WAR, DRG,WHM,and MNK to do after these two get hopefully finished this weekend, so my opinion could very well still change!
