I think this is the reason all FF characters look skinny to us morbidly obese Westerners; their motion capture actors are probably Asian...but they generally have Western heads and faces. Mixing up the body types makes people look kinda strange.

Lightning's thigh gap makes her look like she's been built wrong though - like her legs and arms are attached to the corners of a rectangle. Nobody has 30cm between their thighs!

30cm is a bit of an exaggeration but the "ideal" image for women is having legs where thighs don't touch. Just talk to lululemon designers, they basically said their pants are designed for women who's thighs don't touch. And, if your thighs touch you need to stop eating cheeseburgers and go to the gym more (according to their marketing team.)

look like they'd fit Lightning well.

Wow. No. No no no no. The "thigh gap" is a horrid teenage fantasy that fuels eating disorders. The only way for the majority of women to have that thigh gap is to completely redo their skeletal structure. And if you just so happen to have hips wide enough for it, you have to go for legs that are barely more than skin, bone, and tendon. It has nothing to do with not eating cheeseburgers or going to the gym. Please, can we not perpetuate the thigh gap myth on this forum? It's 100% unhealthy.

Well, in his defense, he was saying that the particular designers/marketing team think that is the "ideal" image (he used quotes around that to show he doesn't necessarily believe it). Really, he wasn't advocating the thigh gap, but was just saying that fashion seems to do so.
