that's ture some of the event should have been done in dungeon or had a few quests where escort her around so she could see "the new realm" she is inI don't get why my character is supposed to care about Lightning... I have two cutscenes with her where I spend less than a minute interacting with her, and yet I'm clearly supposed to be sad that she's moving on to another world at the very end. It's very forced and doesn't work at all. She also acts like she has all these wonderful memories of Eorzea that will be lost, when really what has she done there at all? Fight a couple mobs and wander around for maybe 30 feet before disappearing? At the very least, all 4 parts of the quest should've had cutscenes... Lightning needed to have more time around the player's character to even begin to warrant anything resembling a bonding moment, and to indicate she's been actively exploring her alien surroundings.
the FATE event may have done some shit about it, if it only just parties participate, you might get that feeling of "Yea we're fightning side by side with Lightning", which is much more memorable... but sadly :O
No they didn't. If you know her storyline in xiii-2 and what's to come in xiii-3, there's a simple explanation for why she is here. Hell, they even explained why she will have a Mi'qote outfit in LR.
Because she was dropped there by some malevolent being whose testing her, isn't really a reason to be in Eorzea. It's an excuse.
And yes I caught the mi'qotte bit.
It's a reason because she has lost faith in her fight and going in Eorzea changed her mind, now she is ready for the end of the world.
Anyway it's a promo event, who cares, now we can cosplay in FFXIV !
It was a cheap barely thought out excuse. She couldve landed anywhere and had the same illuminating experience. Eorzea really had nothing to do with her story except hey this place is nice! Hell the foes she fought were even her own. The story was probably drafted out on a napkin one night while the devs were drinking.
Having said that I got no real problem with it. I like new things to do. I like new items to get. Though they jipped us by belting lightnings cape so it doesn't flow when you run. I was most looking forward to having a real cape.

There was no real way that type of modeling could be done in this game without reworking the graphics engine even further. There was already an explanation why 'no capes' was a thing for this game, though memory escapes me as to where exactly I read it.It was a cheap barely thought out excuse. If you pay attention, the belted cape actually behaves like robe garb, and follows the same basic framework/movement rules.
As far as the storyline? I'm ok with it. Be critical of it if you want, but looking at the plot of FFXIII series as a whole... /huh. (There was enough time/space travel reality bending mischief in that whole series to justify anything with a paper-thin excuse.)
To be perfectly honest, I don't care if Lightning's storyline did not explain specially why Eorzea became the area Lightning showed up in. And if there ever is an explanation of it, I'd rather it be found in the core of Eorzea's lore. (Like finding out that Atomos's arrival before the Calamity did something to the fabric of Eorzea's reality and made it more prone to visitation from other realms, or something like that.) Than it be something specific to 'this character was sent to Eorzea because of his/her own special reasons.'
That way, it's Eorzea itself that's the reason.
It indeed was a little dramatic but then she goes and says "Maybe ill see you again in another world blah blah *wink*" which I think is a subtle hint that youll see her again when you buy Lightning Returns.
Which I dont mind by the way since that's the whole point of this event.
