Better get used to it. It's going to be a never ending cycle of new gear to obtain and old gear becoming easier to obtain. What Veteran players get out of it is they obtain the gear first, so show it off while it's hot, then do it all over again with next patch. What veteran players can do in patch 2.1 is get full set of CT gear first and strut their stuff in Ul'dah.

Problem is, it doesn't seem like there are any new higher tiered gear to attain in 2.1

CT, being a dungeon of lower tier than Coil will probably not drop gear better than Allagan or myth (same gear tier as Allagan)

Right there isn't. A FC with 24 players in full 90 gear will find CT a joke once they know mechanics. Still you can obtain the CT gear first because of this, the value of the CT gear will be the look not the item 80 level.

I agree although it still doesn't remove from the fact that stats wise, Myth gear that are easier and faster to get in 2.1 will be superior to the CT gear and equivalent to the Allagans.

Which FC have 24 man with all jobs full equiped with 90 gear?
Even if someone have 1 or 2 jobs full equiped with 90 gear, the chance is high that more than 3 jobs from his character have only ilevel 70 gear. And then they run CT with these jobs who have only ilevel 70 gear. Or run CT with the ilevel 90 gear jobs to earn ilevel80 gear for their ilevel70 gear jobs.

Perhaps new gear from Extreme Primals? He says there will be new gear from EM primals
