I think it will be 2 1/2 - 3 months after patch 2.1.He mentions that 2.1 was delayed 1 month b/c of server congestion and initial release was November. Does that mean now they r back on track will we be getting 2.2 in February instead if March. Or will the one month delay continue as is and have a chance to further that delay with problems with 2.1. Thoughts?
That's what I think as well, I just didn't know if any info was released about attaining to the original schedule. Lets hope no new major problems arrive with CT etc....I'm loving the game and ready for 2.1 and beyond.
Branch development means one branch won't effect another branch (not true, but that's theoretically) so 2.1 delayed 4 weeks does not mean 2.2 is not on track. He mentions that 2.1 was delayed 1 month b/c of server congestion and initial release was November. This is because the "trunk" is going at it's own rate and a "branch" is a freeze in features to be used.
Of course man power isn't free, and manpower taken to fix the server is manpower lacking from 2.1 which is of course manpower taken from the "trunk" and 2.2
Theoretically it averages out, and a 4week wait on 2.1 is a 2 week wait on 2.2, and 1week wait on 2.3, etc, as things catch up to speed.
Finally, if they're smart, they would be hiring people (with all the revenue they got) to get back on schedule.

I don't like the cap raise. Best gear in the game should come from the hardest end-game content, aka coil.
If anyone's curious why ReiszRie is so rustled the answer is on his lodestone: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...acter/1691309/
Only myth gear, only coil exploration achievement from coil turn 1 (which you can get on the way to the boss). He doesn't want people catching up to him through his only means of gearing.
If you want gear which will have exclusivity for longer than myth gear, run coil, anyone can run WP.

As long as he caps his weekly myth forever, no one will catch up to him. I still don't get why he's bothered by it, I would think only some hard core players running coil would be bothered by filthy casuals getting equivalent gear.
He could be easily running Coil with that gear, I'm more than a month behind him and my group almost beat turn 4 last week.
You can do turns 1-4 in full DL armour, it's far more about execution than anything else. Turn 5 however does have minimum HP requirements on the squishier classes due to fireball soaking. As long as he caps his weekly myth forever, no one will catch up to him. My opinions are not based on individual benefit, if it indeed is based on individual benefit, I'd have more to gain, considering that I have multiple classes I'd need to gear.As long as he caps his weekly myth forever, no one will catch up to him. Coil is not the ultimate goal for everyone, whether one has a desire to complete coil or otherwise is their way of playing the game, like I've mentioned before, Mythology gear currently serves to be a good alternative to Allagan gears and my argument here is that it should not be easily attainable, considering that its iLevel 90
Casuals will eventually catch up as there are only 12 pieces of gear in total, so there is no such thing as "permanently" ahead.
I'd appreciate if you guys stop making this into a straw-man's argument.

But it still doesn't negatively affect you in anyway. If you play hardcore and enjoy it, then you'll keep up with content as it comes out and go through the long processes because that's what you like to do. I'm fairly hardcore and I'm fine with the effort. My opinions are not based on individual benefit, if it indeed is based on individual benefit, I'd have more to gain, considering that I have multiple classes I'd need to gear.

If you want to switch the casual, you always can. Take your time and enjoy other things, later on you can catch up because of these catch-up mechanisms.
Just because it's easier for casuals later doesn't have anything to do with your efforts now.
Be glad. Now you can say stuff like "I walked 15 miles to get groceries back in my day" and then complain about how everyone can get everywhere with their confounded improved public transportation and cars." If you get my analogy.
I wouldn't mind having gear take as long as it did before to get. But making some casuals feel more accomplished faster, with their limited time does nothing to spit in my face.
Get over it. The days of gaining a false sense of superiority from spending more time in the game are long gone.
It's just two different playstyles and the game is accommodating both. You still get to accomplish things long before the rest. You can feel some pride in that.
Last points
1) They are technically not making it "easier", just less time consuming.
2) Are we really talking about the prestige of tome/vendor gear? That only has to do with how long you've been playing. I don't mind time sinks, but they should never be used to dictate prestige. That's like those dumb leveling systems where you gain experience only from just being online.
Coil is right there. Be in the top 10 fc's of your server to down turn 5. That's good prestige. That rank will never go away.
Spending time doesn't mean anything if it's just trivial tome farming.
If you feel pride in that, good. Keep doing it.
But don't force everyone to obey your time sink hierarchy.
It's not about them, it's about what you enjoy doing.
