So what roles will classic FF jobs have? My ideas plus yours and more

Feel free to add your own, but I'm curious to see the consensus on what classic jobs will play which roles. Stick to only the current three roles: tank, DPS, and healer. Sure some will be more support than DPS or vice versa but stick to those three roles.

I have here nineteen jobs (on next post), most of which are classic FF jobs some of which are just taken from elsewhere/my ideas.

Tons of speculation and stuff. If it ain't your thing meh. Feel free to troll or whatever have fun.

Assign them a role or add more possible jobs:

    1. Geomancer job (from Conjurer)--DPS (can still heal but now deals damage somewhere in between black Mage and whm with cleric stance and it's mainly elemental based; hoping elements will play a bigger role in the future)
    2. Ranger job (from Archer)--Tank (will set traps and use pets as tanks)
    3. Samurai job (from new class, Ronin)--Tank (debuffs enemy to reduce damage taken and etc)
    4. Dancer job (from new class, Ravager)--Healer (would play like a monk in maintaining something like GL, causing a huge regen effect to take place, plus some other common obvious healing abilities)
    5. Berserker (from Marauder)--DPS (kinda reverses war effects with special stance which compromise survivability for immense melee damage)
    6. Ninja (from new class, Rogue)--Tank (evasive tank)
    7. Time Mage (from Thaumaturge)--Healer (HoT type healer with support and debuffs, and can transform spells like blizzard or fire to become healing spells)

    10. Green Mage (from new class, Oracle)--Tank (casting based tank--YES a magical tank)
    11. Mediator (from new class, Ronin)--Healer (makes treaties between ally and enemy to reduce damage, sort of like a mitigation healer like scholar, plus usual healing abilities)
    12. Commando (from new class, Ravager) DPS (functions better the more damage is avoided without moving )
    13. Mystic Knight (from Gladiator)--Healer (heals heavily but slowly, and has a unique ability that can be extremely helpful but requires teamwork: casting a spell on a DPS and then allowing DPS to hit ally as hard as possible to restore HP,by casting cure on the ally's weapon and so on).
    14. Sentinel (from Musketeer)--Tank (tanks by getting aggro but keeping enemies away from self and allies with gun)

    15. Beast Master (from Oracle)--DPS (uses mobs as temporary pets and otherwise has two pets to utilize permanently and deals damage by matching combos with pets)
    16. Red Mage (from new class, Magus)--DPS (versatile still as OT and healer but specializes in DPS)
    17. Blue Mage (from Magus)--Healer (learns mob abilities for support and healing and damage and can mimic some other enemy actions or ally defensive abilities, or spread them out to others as well.)
    18. Dracomancer (from Lancer)--Healer (another pet healing class but this one allows pet to take allies into air for mitigation. Damage dealt is decreased but damage dealt is transferred over to healing power of pet, and life surge now heals all allies)
    19. Wrestler (from Pugilist)--tank maintaining greased lightning decreases damage taken instead of dealt and gains other defensive abilities as well as stuns and pin downs and so on, as well as increased enmity)

I'd like to see Chemist come out as a ranged job that utilizes a targeting system for healing with non-inventory potions.

At least, I think it'd make for an interesting mechanic and playstyle for single-target and aoe healing. It'd be the same as placing your pet or aiming that mage LB.

Not sure how I feel about healers coming from DoW classes and tanks coming from DoM classes, but that aside:

Dark Knight should definitely be a damage dealer, and the more I think about it, I kinda like the idea of making them come out of Gladiator. Would just need to remove the additional enmity boost from stuff like Savage Blade and Rage of Halone (and repurpose Flash). They could either forego a shield or instead start using those bucklers (which they would take from Thaumaturgs), so in combat they'd look a bit like Tidus (ie. bastard sword with a small shield), and probably share the Lancer's heavy-armor DD gear.

Thief should be a damage dealer as well. Take daggers away from Gladiators and give them to whatever class eventually gives Thief and let them share the light-armor DD gear that Monks currently use.

Dancer I'd like to see as an evasion/parry tank.

Geomancer should definitely be a damage dealer and use the one-handed conjury weapons that most CNJ/WHM stop caring about because of their relic.

If anything came out of THM, I think it should be Time Mage which could be a more supportive DD like the BRD is now, and have it use the one-handed thaumaturg weapons that most BLM don't care about because of their relic as well.

I've fleshed out some of my ideas already (see signature ) but what I'd like to see:

    Fencer (Rapiers):
Red Mage: DPS, able to switch between melee and magical, debuffs Relic: Short Rapier paired with buckler type shield, innefective at blocking well
Mystic Knight: Tank, absorbs magical damage, debuffs Relic: Long Rapier paired with a heavier shield (functions differently than a PLD's shield)

    Flayer (Whips):
Blue Mage: DPS, able to switch between melee and magical, learns spells from enemies Relic: Chain based whip adorned with jewels
Beastmaster: DPS, able to switch pets quickly in battle, each pet has own specialization Relic: Leather whip

    Conjurer:
Geomancer: AoE DPS, focuses on either using current zone's element or Tornado/Flood/Quake Relic: Natural wand weapon and magic stat shield/tree bark

    Thamaturge:
Time Mage: DPS or Healer, as DPS it would focus in crowd control/herding to easily sleep enemies and weigh them down. Would also be interesting to see a healer make use of UI/AF mechanic. Relic: Cudgel shaped like a hammer magic stat shield/orb

    Gladiator:
Dark Knight: DPS, uses HP to facilitate strong attacks Relic: 2-handed sword

    Marauder:
Viking: DPS, slow build up but high burst damage Relic: Dual wielded hatchets

    Pugilist:
Berserker: Tank, evasion based, form changing mimics animals Relic: Wristlets that empower their own fists

    Lancer:
Templar: Tank, parry based tank with access to counters, status evasion and hp buffs Relic: Heavy spear

    Archer:
Ranger: DPS, focus in additional status effects and traps, has a pet that varies on your race but only in appearance, skills and stats are the same. Relic: Shortbow
    Hume: Wolf
    Miqo'te: Jaguar
    Roegadyn: Boar
    Lalafell: Squirrel/Rabbit
    Elezen: Falcon

    Other randoms:
    Chemist: Healer
    Samurai: Tank
    Ninja: DPS, access to ranged/magic
    Thief: DPS
Dancer: DPS, support oriented like BRD, some buffs but mostly debufffs
Corsair: DPS, RNG heavy on attacks and/or additional effects of attacks

I did some theory on making some new classes as well, but the one thing I think is actually going to be in will be Muskateer, and it will hopefully branch to a ranged DD and a tank with Gunblades!!!

Musketeer is gonna be a ranged DD by definition, since the class will use guns. Gunblades I'm not so sure would go to Musketeer, but I do remember seeing some post where Yoshi-P liked the idea of a gunblade class, so you never know.

Hopefully, the Musketeer sees the return of the Corsair. They use guns, they're pirate themed (fits perfect for Limsa), and they're the Gambler job class without being explicitly called a gambler (SE mentioned something about this back when COR was first released in XI, something about how gambling was bad and they didn't want it explicitly in their game or something). If anything, they should probably be a lot like how BRD is now: all your ranged DD stuff comes from the class itself while the job (COR in this case) gives all your gambling abilities, like dice rolls or something. Would probably be too hard and too distracting to put slots in as an ability (seriously, how many people would eat a landslide because they were trying to get a good slots match while in Titan HM).

Musketeers are french guys with rapiers. They are known to come in threes.
I kinda hope they dont add a gun class, but if they do I'm really hoping its called something much better like Corsair or Pirate!
