Undergeared and proud of it?

Okay...so I usually never rant...and I don't care for people's gear...

But I don't know if this is just a weekend issue, or if I just had bad luck all of a sudden.

Little reminder to anyone who wants to do SRs. If people shout for a Primal Farm SR(Garuda/Titan), or a WP/AK SR and ask for people to know how it works(not even demanding gear, just knowing how it works) and you decide...hey this sounds like an opportunity for me to get carried. Reconsider and start/find groups appropriate for your gear/skilllvl.

I didn't even want to do it, but so many people shout for tanks, that I thought might as well join so they can get their run started just to find out that the so called WP SR ended up with the WHM not knowing how it is done and never did a WP SR before. We even agreed on explaining and teaching him how it is done step by step from pull to pull. He just said "I think I have lags, I'll relog" and then he never came back...

15minutes later, after shouting to offer help on the Relic Quest Boss fights on any of my Relic Jobs and no one needing any help(yes I post this just for the sake of outlining that I do care about new people and helping them to get started in endgame), a Garuda SR farm PT was shouting they need a Solo Tank. So I join. Took them a few minutes after to be ready to go in which I used to check some of the PT members.

First person I check: SMN...wearing a itemlvl49 SMN book, 1 DL piece...rest between itemlvl45-55. Second person I checked...BLM wearing Relic...ok. Rest of the gear itemlvl 45-55...accessories itemlvl25...what the hell? Clearly got carried through Titan...

Long story short...we wiped on the first try...highest DPS in the PT did 159 DPS...I never start my parser on any content unless it's for performance increasing evaluation, but on this PT I just had to do it.

So here is the reasno for me to start this topic. This is not solely meant as a rant or to discriminate any players.

But I just try to understand. When people shout for specific requirements(as in SRs), what makes "you" (this is directed at any person who joins SR PTs when clearly not knowing how it's done or not having the gear to do it) join those PTs and not feel like an a....ole by handicapping the whole group with your subpar performance or even worse...expecting them to not notice and be carried, completely aware of the fact that you don't meet the requirements for the targeted content and in specific the way the PT wants to engage it(as in SRs)??? Are you really that selfish? Do you just don't care? Do you feel good wasting 3/7 other players time?

Call me an elitist...prolly some will...I join non SR PTs all the time to help out new players to get some WP/AK gear or farm Philos so they have an easier time getting into SR PTs...but behaviour like I mentioned above...that is just something I can't understand at all...

Please enlighten me with your thought process.

personally I just don't enjoy true-speed runs as they exist right now. sure having all my Myth capped in just over an hour would be great, or selling Philo items like crazy for all the gilz.

That being said there are a lot of people which are unprepared for the content they approach. I take a pretty casual view of the game and while I can accept if you're not even near perfectly geared, if you think you're low for the content SAY-SO. Being in skill-level appropriate groups is part of learning.

It's a sad fact that trying to join groups you need to say Relic/Relic+1, avg-armor-item-level and avg-accessory-level or be put through gear checks.... and while 75% of the time it's people looking to be carried by people with better gear, sometimes it's just because people want to make sure YOU aren't trying to get carried.

I made several speedruns for each content up to Garuda with a lv49 wand, lv50 gear and lv28 accessories from Haukke Manor, without getting carried.
I always give an opportunity to everyone, if I see they suck, I leave/kick, if they can do it I stay.
The only case in which you REALLY need some proper gear is in DPS rushes.
I don't think any dps will go against Titan Extreme Mode with ilvl60 gear, but tanks and healers don't need such ilvl, people clear the coil turn 3-4 in full AK gear!
