People dislike the idea of NMs that require camping in ARR for the same reason many disliked the idea in XI; erroneously feeling alienated. The perception that one is "missing out", cannot possibly participate in some content, or will not be as "elite" as others by obtaining such and such item strikes fear into many when the real problem lies in the player. If our progress in a game is a measure of not only the time we spend in a game but also of the quality of that time, then those who devote their time to camping monsters on timers should be rewarded.

At least very least, it would add some spice to a rather lifeless world outside of instances. FATEs, while fun, engaging, and rewarding are really just big free for alls where we know for sure what the end result will be for ourselves. In XI I frequently stressed out over getting gear that required camping, but that was only because I desired it for myself. Solution? I devoted my time to camping this gear and despite taking weeks or months, when I finally got it I felt an actual sense of accomplishment that didn't fade the next day or week or month.

Not saying ARR should take XI's early extreme, just stating that time investment over a long period of time has its merits. You're not disenfranchised if you don't have time or the will to do that.
