You mean if you can't see the NM in fates, you likely won't get rewarded. Let's face it, there's not much skill play involve in zerging. There's no way to make a fight complex other than zerg in a Fate system.

As i mentioned and you ignored, the issues with not being able to see the mob will be fixed in 2.1. There won't always be 832764324 people at every fate, either, and there are ways to introduce strateic elements even with a lot of people participating.
While I see what you are getting at, and agree to a point... any HNM fate like that is always going to be a zerg/body toss. With random people coming in masses, there is no strategy and the fight becomes a body toss/raise festival. While I do like these, and enjoy them, this is hardly legitimate HNM. The reward for these is almost non-existant and the fun level is just because it is a madhouse zerg with a boatload of other people. Granted, even if they do fix it, what do you think will become of these? Even with significantly less people, and everyone able to see the mob, that is still going to put you at lets say, 50 people, probably more? Are all these people going to be grouped together and focused on a single strategy? Probably not. It is most certainly still fun, and I would most assuredly love to see more of these (with exponentially increased rewards). But imo, this is a fairly weak example of open world HNM. Granted, they could fix this system and turn it into something awesome, with great rewards! Who knows.
The idea of HNM fates giving seals which could be used to pop other NMs is a really cool idea.
any form of forced pop NM/HNM like this would be a huge addition to the game (as always, imo). Would be great to have an outlet such as this example to use in FFXIV.

Bring Quality Notorious Monsters to FFXIV!

I'll believe it when I see it. If not enough players there to zerg Odin/Behemoth, it just doesn't get done.
part of the problem is with half the participants not being able to see odin/behemoth at any given time, a huge number of people present are not actually contributing at all- many more than if the issue didn't exist. The actual number of people needed to beat odin/behemoth is probably a small fraction of the people who actually participate.
I'm totally cool with force pops.any form of forced pop NM/HNM like this would be a huge addition to the game (as always, imo). Would be great to have an outlet such as this example to use in FFXIV.
1.0 had a decent system to be honest, the pop times weren't insane, and everyone had a decent shot at claiming, the drop rates were meh, but at least you weren't there for 72 hours or whatever ridiculous time it was in XI I don't even remember anymore. Would be nice to see some legitimate Open World content in this game for sure.
That stuff is already on the list to be fixed though. And when there are more of them available, the chances are more than one will be up in a short period of time and you won't be able to make all of them so the crowds will thin out.Fighting Odin and Behemoth in this game is really, really pathetic imo. It's like..really, this is what they've been reduced to? Some of the most scary and difficult fights in the FF series are now nothing more then a spam fest...and that is if your lucky enough to even see it.
Think about it, because sometimes Odin doesn't get beaten even with hundreds of people there.

What about guildhests, yes? Make that work, yes?

Why not use token spawned HNM's like Sky in XI. Farm the tokens needed to spawn the mob then you don't need to worry about staying up for the 73 hour spawn window.

2-5% FATE chance pops with difficult at level NMs with low loot % drops is the way to go using the currently instated system.
Other than that, Sky style token pops are good too.
