Help for a Conjurer at Nanawa

OK, then... This should be in Conjurer section, but... whatever... im kinda new...

So im at nanawa, spamming behest as much as i can, rank 27 and physical level 26. People with me in behest, yay. O lookie, a group of enemies, gladiator, tank it, other's assist us so no one dies, ill try to heal and att- OMFG I TOLD YOU TO PROTECT ME!! how did all enemies suddenly aim to me and deal like 400-700 each hit to me? Doesn't make sense even being a mage type class!

First off... I always use AoE mode to heal my group (common sense) and try to mix one target / aoe target in attacks. Rare thing is that, when my partners are tanking, the moment i attack or even heal, all the mob comes after me! I mean, WHAT THE HECK? If i heal, it doesn't hit any mobs!

...Excuse my rant, im just not too positive right now... I've been in all the behests i could and i died in all of them... is just too harassing...

I'd like to know what should I do not to die that much in these kind of quests, IS TOO EMBARASSING! I CAN'T STAND TO BE THE WEAKEST IN GROUP >:[

I mean... If i do the role of a supporter, the enemies just chase me when i didnt even hurt them. If i AoE when enemies are being tanked, they suddenly change aim to me... Im always the center, and i don't get why!

any help...? my hp is 652 btw (YES. im planning on raising vit up... 40 right now)

Buffs generate a lot of hate -- try to throw them up before anyone starts attacking (though of course with behest, people always run amok )
The "Z" key lets you toggle AoE off and on, helpful tip
Umm... if you're having trouble with hate from heals alone, try waiting for people to get down to half health before you start curing, should be fine with how quickly behest mobs go down =/

    Does that help? lol

    heya,

One of the things I notice when playing with newer mages is that they tend to stand in range of the AoE attacks from the mobs. My advice would be to make sure you're standing just at the cusp of your casting range, target one of the tanks with AoE Cure and let 'er rip.

Cure in general does not generate as much hate (emnity) as it does in other MMO's *BUT* if you are standing there spamming cure, you will defnitely get their attention. Give the tank a minute or two to mash on the mob before you cast a cure so they can generate enough hate to hold it.

Finally, I'd also like to point out that re-casting buffs will get you noticed FAST. I don't know why, but refreshing your tanks' Protect before they have the mob hate-anchored is practically a death-sentence. Keep an eye on the buffs (or keep communication open with the tanks) and try to refresh when you have about a min left. Cast when the mob is close to being dead so that your group is still kinda clustered but there's less risk of pulling the hate.

There's no reason that you should be embarrassed. Your job is to keep everyone else alive by healing. The tank's job -- and really all the melees' job -- is to keep the mobs from attacking the healers. So if you're getting attacked while you're healing, you're doing your job, and the tanks aren't doing theirs.

There are, however, a couple things you can do to help. First, once the mob is engaged, anything you do increases your enmity. Attacking, healing, and buffing (especially buffing) all increase your enmity. And typically, the first attack does not gather any hate. So let the tanks do a couple of actions on the mob -- engaging it, hitting it, provoking it, etc. -- before you start casting heals. In fact, it's probably a good rule of thumb to let the tank hit the mob twice before you start casting heals.

Second, you can also turn off your AoE heals, and just heal the one person who's taking damage. I'm not positive, but I believe that decreases the amount of enmity your cures will generate.

Third, at your level, the tanks usually don't have an AoE provoke. So they can only provoke one mob at a time. If you've engaged a group of mobs, the tank will usually have the attention of one mob, and the rest will be attacking the tank. But the tank won't really have the attention of the other mobs. So if anyone hits the other mobs -- through an AoE attack or cures -- then those mobs will immediately go after the person who just attacked them. So when you're engaging a group of mobs, don't AoE the group. Everyone should concentrate fire on the one mob that the tank is engaging.

Finally, consider getting a one-armed wand and a shield (it looks like you've already equipped a shield). Keep in mind, though, that you have to click the "Guard" ability to raise your shield, or it won't block incoming attacks.

    Good luck!
