Something I've begun to see in other games. Basically, instead of penalizing players that drop queue for duty finder, they simply get paired into the same queue system with others that drop. This could last for a period of time while allowing those players to continue playing with other like minded players.
A few details to the system:
- Players are given a point system towards duty finder, each time they drop then a point is added that will automatically get removed after a 24 hour period.
- Points are only applied to the first person leaving the group.
- In the event that the player collects 3 points in any given (24 hour) time period, they will be moved to the "lower" duty finder queue.
- The player will remain in that tier until the points drops to below 3.
- Points can still accumulate while in the lower tier (Max 5).
Note: I am undecided on if it would be best to have the time for removing points based on play time or server time, re-balancing would be required if based on play time.
I'm also thinking that since imbalances between classes can easily exist between the tiers, that after 15 minutes of waiting then the queue will temporarily swap to the higher tier. In other words, if a group can not be made, then the lower tier becomes a 15 minute extension to the normal duty finder wait time.
Thoughts?
