Haha ye, luckly some set fit well togetherSo... what is this about then? you like having pretty gear (which I agree I hate ugly gear, which is why when I get WAR to 50 I'm having Relic head/body ready not using that crap DL....) but what does it matter if others want to mix and match sets? I love doing that! Some times mix and matching sets actually conveys a whole new style with it's own flair! In XI and Tera I'd do that all the time, and I'd find multiple sets that actually were cohesive with each other. Some sets (just my personal opinion) look awesome mixed up! Like some Allagan and some Relic or some Allagan and some DL or some Relic and some DL!! I love DL and SCH Relic together, but again that's my opinion. But you shouldn't just discredit other peoples play styles b/c it doesn't fit yours @.@
EDIT:
Oh ya I love mixing the crafted Vanya with DL! It makes a fun set too ^.^
Jee, i truly should have take a screenshot of that ugly BiS JP player![]()
There isn't really anything wrong with min/maxing though. I will be doing that on SMN with Relic/Allagan but they also look really great together! Will I be the absolute best SMN? Doubtful but I'm not aiming for that, I'm aiming to be the best SMN I can be, but once Vanity slots come? My ass will have full relic armor on, unless AF2(Empyrean for me haha) comes out when that comes out... then yeah I want that set![]()

p.s. whm af2 is truly meant to be fullset or nothing, i guess because of that shiny white red haha
p.p.s. i truly love your signature, may i have one too for my WHM?![]()

Let me simplify what I said for you in that case.
Min maxers enjoy the COMPETITIVE NATURE in games in regards to content progression. Lack of content aside we're talking about their reason of min maxing not what the game has become.
If I was that good I'd make a new one for my Elezen ; ;
Sadly I'm not that artistic or good with PS or SAI.
Pepsi Colah and Shiza33 from the Beta forums(idk if they're on here) drew the actual art. And Miste(actually on here too) did the actual signature for me.

It's an endless cycle.
The dev team creates new content, the min-maxers will:
A) Plow through it, get bored, and proceed to complain about lack of content.
-and/or-
B) Complain about any method used to extend the life of the content (eg, RNG, grinding, cool-downs, difficulty, etc)
Quite simply, when you take development time and costs into account, there is no amount of content that could be realistically created that will satisfy someone who plays this game for 6-12/hrs a day, 6-7 days a week. (yes, I understand that min-maxer ≠ MMO addict, but there's a fair amount of crossover between the two groups)
The problem is that too many people want this game to be something more than a great GAME. They want the game to give their life fulfillment, and they grind away their lives chasing what is just a sad illusion.
I'm not talking about people who are working towards a cool weapon or want to beat a certain boss, I'm talking about people who get angry when they don't have anything to do in the game. I'm talking about people who yell at a player who won't skip CS. I'm talking about those who refuse to try anything new in dungeons or primal battles because it might add a couple minutes to their run time. I'm talking about people who boot a new player from a PUG after a single wipe. I'm talking about those who spend the majority of their waking hours in the game when there is a life in the real world they should be living.
Those are the people who don't find enjoyment in this (or any) game -- And they never could. Sadly, they subconsciously turn what should be FUN into a grinding chore while they are desperately looking for something that a GAME can't provide.
But I could always be wrong![]()

I think you are just delusional when it comes to over generalizing people. You are confusing people like try hard elitists, DF jerks, and people we enjoy progressing. If you can't see the difference they thats your own problem.
You are basically saying things like
"most Asians are good at math"
"most Americans are fat and stupid"
"most casuals are bad at the game"
"most conservative/liberals are stupid"
"most casuals can't enjoy the game because they aren't progressing"
As a veteran Monster Hunter player, looks are never in my priority - stats are.
I have a role in my team not to pull my team down, and likewise. If you want to look good, go ahead, but just be sure you are able to do your job in coil (ie. meet the minimum stat requirements for anything - for example, my job as a tank is to cap my accuracy at 482, then focus on as much VIT/Parry as I can), and not pull down the rest of the team. Or you can form a party with like-minded people. I care about how my character appears to an extent (ie. I hate the tank DL chest because it hides my face), but if I don't have something more efficient for the stuff that matters, then that's what I will use until I do have something more efficient.
Before you clump me in as one of the "burnt out end game players", let me assure you I run 5 WP runs a day for fun. Yes, for fun. I have a group of friends I always run WP with, and we're mostly usually spiritbonding there. Our goals are never the philo stones or the gear. I run Titan HM maybe twice a day as well. For fun. I have two Titan Hearts, and almost a full collection of Titan weapons, but I run it with friends because it's fun.
Outside of Coil (the only dungeon where stats matter at this point of the game), you can go and do Ifrit HM in your swimsuit and stuff, go have fun. Just be sure that when it comes time for the weekly Coil, I don't see you messing around by being undergeared or understat'ed (don't know what's the term for this lol). Of course, if you're not in my team, you don't have to answer to me, and I won't have to be responsible to you either.
Think you're going a little off topic or my definition seems to be completley different to yours.I'm not talking about people who are working towards a cool weapon or want to beat a certain boss, I'm talking about people who get angry when they don't have anything to do in the game.
You pefectly described an asshole elitists, there's a difference between being competitive and being a douche.
Min/maxing is perfectly fine, the problem is when it is being forced upon others (when it isn't truly needed). This, unfortunately, happens quite a lot.
Of course, the same can be said from the opposite perspective. It is a problem when people refuse to do what they need to in order to help the team win.
Both sides are fine, but suffer from the exact same problem. People who take it too far and are too stubborn to accommodate.
