    HEY for Real

So if your a paying subscriber you are given the option to create up 7 more characters with the choice of picking different server/worlds.
My question is does anyone use this function to create ALT Characters on the same world as your Main instead of leveling up your Main character with multiple job classes.
This would free up inventory storage problems, allow you to do QUEST for each job class all the way to 50 and the only thing that would change is your name but you could create NAME +1 example. KING TIDUS1 , KING TIDUS2, ect ect.
The only downfall here is the QUICK CHANGE feature : Load Times would be the only issue ?

The only advantages would be getting around the mythology token cap and.... well, that's it. You have enough space in your armory chest to have a unique set of gear for every class, so inventory isn't an issue. Also, FATEs are faster than running sidequests for levels, and after patch 2.1 they intend for dungeons to be on par as well, plus you get +50% xp if you already have a level 50 class. There's also many more issues that pop up when using multiple characters: First is that you won't be able to use cross-class abilities, you'll need to level another class up to 15 to get your job stone anyway, you'll need to level all your crafts up on ALL your characters if you want to be able to repair your own gear (Which is MUCH cheaper than paying the NPC), and you won't be able to get many achievements which require content done across multiple jobs.

Oh, and you can only have more than one character per world if you have a legacy subscription or the more expensive payment plan. The cheaper payment plan only allows one character per world.

Nope. Standard sub allows 8 characters per world.

Some people do have alts, but it's a pain transferring items between alts since you can only mail someone who is on your friend list. You can't friend yourself unless you manage to multi-log (is that even possible?). So, you have to trade between a trusted friend or use a FC chest to transfer. I think we should be allowed another retainer or ways to increase bag space for a price.

Creating alts on the same server is a lot of work and chiefly done by those who want a specific look for their class. For example, a giant mage and a lalafell tank.
There are also some players who do not like running FATEs to level all their classes and would rather replay the story, or play out the story from different starting cities as well. In the latter's case though, they don't have to level up to 50 for it.

I suppose you could create alts, level them up to 20, get your retainer, and just use them as bank vaults. However, it is expensive to send items to your alts as you need them to friend you, and that can only be done if both characters are online at the same time. To do so means you have to purchase two copies of the game, maintain two accounts, and have 2 computers/ps3/combo to have them both online to trade. Alternatively, you could just have another player you really trust to send them for you, but it might become annoying if you're always bugging them to get items for you, so it's not ideal.

Standard is the more expensive payment plan.

The cheaper one is 1 per world, 8 total.

Entry = 1 char per world but can use all worlds
Standard = 8 char per world, again on all worlds
'sup to you wether you think standard is the expensive or if entry is the discount...
but to throw my two-cents in I find it advantageous to have more than 1 char because you can use a character with better base stats for the job you want it to be (ie, miqote sun for tank/physical and moon for magic/heal) also the mythology cap as mentioned above and then also the exp bonus gains while you're logged out on the character not just the account so if you decide to switch it will still gain that bonus period while you play with the alt.

I'm one of those people with several alts all on different servers
You can see 4 of them by searching the last name Marusei on the loadstone. The one pictured on here is my main.
Two of them are under developement yet and the other one is going to change directions, since I have more fun as a healer with that character.
It makes the game stretch out farther and I rarely get bored with different races, different people to play with....I have left some fc and servers just because I didn't like what was going on in the chatbox.

The main reason for alts though is to see the different intos and story up to level 15. That and becomes really difficult level after adding 3 classes on one character. I'm not into grinding fates all that much.

I have alt's on the same server as my main,I don't like the current fate system being the only main way of leveling up another class/job also I like a change now and then got 1x50 2x30+ and just started my 4 which will have both healers on it since whm and sch both need acn.
