Sooo this happened to me today...

I was healing ifrit today, for the thousandth time. I had someone give me crap because I was sitting at 85%+ MP most of the fight. Apparently telling me that I was not carrying my weight, and the other white mage was closer to 40% at first I was like why the hell is he so low? In most Ifrits unless people are really bad, i stay pretty close to full mana easily. Than I realized Ah this guy is throwing stone skins on everyone every chance he gets. But I just thought it was funny cuz I never seen anyone complain that I had TO MUCH mana.

If you sit at 85% easily on iffy you may wanna dps a lil bit if all you are doing is standing there waiting. That is likely why he made that comment

I could throw out dps, and ill typically maybe throw out a dots on the nails but, being at 85% easily and having time to dps are not the same. Also no I doubt me dpsing had even crossed the guys mind.

Actually, if everyone know what they were doing and not making mistakes, this BOSS can be easily solo healed.
But healer DPS is always optional. 2b or not 2b, always up to u~No one else have right to forces it.

We solo-healed and solo-tanked Ifrit last night for fun. Went perfect until the PAL missed a stun and nuked 3/4 of our rDPS. Luckily the one who survived was a SMN, and rezed the rest for our SCH while the two DRG just kept stabbing away like nothing happened...

On-topic, I've only healed Ifrit HM once (for my relic), but I don't recall having mana issues. In a dungeon I'll DPS when I can, sure, but with all that goes on in Primal fights, I rather just focus on healing.

If I can afford it, I'll usually toss a Stoneskin on a healer or a squishy DPS but I typically stay usually above 80% MP.

I feel like if you want to be optimal, and are in a high end guild than yeah healer should throw out dps if they can with out killing someone. That being said if you are casual, and you are doing duty finder than there really is no reason to dps unless you might fail because of it. But thats just my approach to things.

In the end I think we all as healers do what we feel is safest, like you said it is one thing if you are in a FC with tons of i90 people doing hardcore Coils and a completely different thing when you are doing DF parties. I am pretty new to endgame and just got my first i90 piece and have much more to go, got a PT in WP that wanted to speed run and told them I had never done it, I just didn't have the gear to keep up with the 6 pulls of trash mobs I told them please I can do 3 maybe 4 pulls but not 6 they just went with the "WHM sucks" approach and it was a horrible run. We know what we are comfortable with and if you are in a casual DF run people need to respect that.
