What is the "recommended" gear to enter each Turn of Binding Coil of Bahamut?

Hi!

I currently have 2 DL accessories + my Relic, but I still hesitate to go in Coil Turn 1. All I see when people are looking to fill groups for Coil are: "LFM for Coil, Full DL+Relic please"

I know Coil is supposed to be the hardest thing, but I have the feeling if you have Full DL+Relic, then you are probably overgearing Coil Turn 1-2 probably...maybe even Turn 3.

Any advice on that?

EDIT: My Cure 1 heals for 850+ with my current gear and 1.2k+ when it crits.

Full DL + Relic if you're going to join /shout groups.

With an FC you can get away with Dungeon/DL gear. Though full DL is hardly difficult to get on one character, so it shouldn't be any problem.

Truthfully, everyone here is going to have different opinions on what it takes to down Coil. My suggestion is to find a group that will take you and see where you stand. Coil is indeed the hardest in-game content and when I first joined, I was shocked at the healing difficulty. If you find yourself having a hard time healing the first mini-boss ADS then you probably need more gear.

For turn 1 both the healers in my group had 6 DL each, tanks died a lot but we got it eventually (3 full 90 minute tries). So yes, full DL would be nice.
Btw how did you do Titan? Were there 3 healers?

Early turns are OK with a few AK pieces slotted. But it is not difficult to get DL pieces, so why not just spend a few more days running AK/WP to finish your set rather than risk wiping in T1 b/c you are undergeared. As a healer, I wouldn't suggest going into T1 with less than 7-8 DL pieces because you will likely run out MP quite easily trying to keep a tank up after split.

It's situational. You don't absolutely need full DL, obviously the more gear you have the better but a good head on your shoulders will go further than gear. A mix of DL/AK is good enough if people are all playing their parts. If you have derp DPS getting cleaved or tanks mismanaging their mitigation cooldowns you're gonna have a bad time with less gear.

"Recomended" gear Full DL/Relic at least, probably Crystal Tower drops would be the norm since we are missing ilvl80 gear. As for "minimun" would depend mostly on your party make up and the overall gear everyone have.

Btw how did you do Titan? Were there 3 healers?

I did it only once with an overgeared group...was kinda lucky to have that group. I am working on getting the chest piece with my Myth tomes right now.

Yup! Gear =/= skills, but a lot of people don't understand that. I'm not the World's best healer, but I really know what I'm doing. I finished AK with nothing more than my basic AF gear and a iLvl45 weapon. Was told at that time I wouldn't be able to heal through AK without at least 5+ DL pieces. Demon Wall was a real pain, but I managed to heal through it. Once I got my Ifrit weapon, I felt like becoming Super Saiyan! It was so easier to heal! With my Relic now, AK is pretty much a joke.

Turn 3 is trash mobs only. Gear doesn't really matter there.

Also "LFM for Coil"? Are you pugging it? If so gear isn't going to be your biggest issue. You should probably find a FC company to join.

As for the rest I'm sure a good group could pull it off with surprisingly bad gear. But the less geared you are the harder it's going to be. Full DL isn't that hard to get, neither is your relic. Just grind wanderers palace speed runs and down the hard mode primals until your FC has a group with the best gear. Again having an FC really, really helps here.

I think HM Titan is a good litmus test. If your FC is having trouble with HM Titan you're probably not ready for Coil and should gear up more.

No offense but AK =/= Coil. If someone tells you you can't do AK without 5+ DL pieces you can safely ignore their advice from that point on.
