PS3 keypad causes controller buttons to stop functioning

In-game time:
Area and coordinates: Mor Dhona (has happened everywhere)
Steps:
1. Using ps3 keypad that sits on top of controller
2. Receive /tell
3. Reply to /tell by using d-pad to go to name, press square & select reply
4. Option box(with reply, invite, etc…) with reply box moves behind chat log
5. Buttons (triangle, circle, start, etc…) stop functioning, analog sticks still work
6. Must restart playstation or zone to in order to regain control of controller.
